92 talon tsi awd 5200... is this is a worthy purchase for the price?

car has 120k miles. exterior is almost perfect. interior is perfect. cleanest engine bay i've ever seen. it has been used at the tracka few times and its been treated nicely but im sure its been run hard. stock motor. mods include:

extreme level 3 16g turbo edit: WITH every supporting mod you could think of including front mount, exhaust clutch flywheel etc

full suspension setup ground controls, gab shocks, sway and strut bars, poly bushings

upgraded ecu with laptop and pocketlogger for tuning

bbs wheels

what do u think?

why? its got a lot more mods than the ones i listed. its very clean. miles are a bit high but the car runs very well and has been maintained.

DSMs are just a lot cheaper nowadays. Unfortunately, I'd say 3500 is as good as you can get.

well i bought the car and i thought it was a good deal because a year ago i bought an almost stock 2g 95 tsi awd with swapped motor for 6300 and its condition was a lot worse than this one. this one is cheaper, has lots of stuff done to it, and is much better maintained, i wanted a well done dsm without having to spend money on mods. the guy could have parted it out for much more than 3500...

If the car is clean and YOU think it is worth that price then buy it up. Most people, IMO, that I have seen buy a "nice" 1G for 2500.00 end up with a POS. If the car is nice enough to warrant the price then pay it.

I'll tell you why, a) the joker is trying to get more money for the car when he has mods done to the car, when it really shouldn't work that way, those mods make reliability go down since it puts more pressure on the car.

b) the car is friggin 13 yrs old with 120K miles on it. Thats quite a bit for the price he is asking.

Kelley agrees with me, $2745 when the car is in EXCELLENT condition. $4,000 is the price for a DEALER...I doubt he'll give you a warranty.

I, for one would pass it up, but its up to you. Thats more like the pricing of a 2G DSM to me.

i know its expensive, but i dont' plan on having the car TOO long and im pretty sure i can get the money back. i've been looking for a 1g and this is the cleanest one i've found. kbb is low for the car but for the right person the car is a deal because its a tastefully and carefully modded car. anyway thanks for the input hopefully i'll enjoy my expensive new toy

If you are going to buy it just to sell it down the road, you are going to be in for a big suprise. How many people have told you NOT to buy it for that price. Now add a few more years and a few more miles and try to sell it for that price or a bit lower. It wont happen. You would have to wait and find someone like yourself willing to pay for a nice car and like I said before not many on this board will do that. Good luck, I would have bought that car for that much, btu I would keep it for along time.
