I have a 91 talon tsi AWD and i am thinking about uprading the turbo. I have a big 16g on there now with a 2nd gen exuasht manifold. I also have a front mount and full intake and exaust.

I am running about 279 hp to all wheels on the dyno right now and i am looking to get it over the 300 mark with an upgraded turbo. I am looking for something that i can use as a daily driver and run at around 18-20 psi of boost with a quick spool up. I dont think i want a full garrett turbo becuase that is to much power without engine work. I was thinking of either the evo 16g or the mitsu 20g turbo.

Please help me pick out a good turbo for this car. And let me know if i will have to get a new manifold to support whatever you recommend. Thank you for the help.

i was also looking on dsmparts and they had a garret system that can bolt on to stock manifolds. has anyone tryed these and if so what mods would i have to do to get this garret bolt on to work

what are you running the boost at right now? what size injectors are you running?
i would think you can take the big 16g a bit farther than you are now. thats just me tho. if you are looking to upgrade look at the 50trims. they are more efficient than the 20g and spool faster and hit harder.

you should be able to make close to 350whp on a 16g....i dont see any fuel mods on your profile so thats definately a must. you need injectors, you can make out some 550s with that 16g. also, you need a fuel pump..regulator optional. and you need a logger and some kind of air fuel control(afc, safc2) and tune it.

What he said? turn your boost up w/ fuel mods.

I would go all the way with a 20g if you want to get to crazy get the one with the internal wastegate make sure you have sufficient fuel (bigger injectors.fpr,255hp fuel pump)and something for tuning a safc would do with a datalogger...good luck your looking at the exact same setup im saving up for currently so with my research you will be running HARD have fun upgrading...and hope this helps

I think i have upgraded injectors but i am not sure what size i have, i am going to ask the guy who built it tommorow.
This is my first turbo car, before this i was doing a lot of offroading in my wrangler. I decided i wanted something more street friendly and got a good deal on this nice turbo set up so i am not sure about everything on the car.
I have a super afc and a turbo timer and have the boost up at about 21 psi right now.
As for the turbo upgrade i just want something that spools up quicker and gives me more power for the psi. I talked to some friends and they also suggested a 50trim becuase it is a lot cheaper than the 20g. But i also heard that a 60 isnt too expensive and a whole lot better.
I hope this explains my situation a little better and maybe you guys can point me to a few actual parts and websites to get them at.
THanks for all the help and i would apreciate any constructive critisim.

20g's are nice, but get a 50 trim, it should net you 400hp
and are a little bit cheaper in the long run over a 20g
