Dartmouth,
i wan tto lower my 91 tsi awd for performance and looks, but the eibach pro kit only drops 1 inch and that isnt even close to enuf for me (see 4 inch wheel gap on stock tires), but as far as coil over go for first gen u have maybe 2 choices, 1st-$1500 true coil over setup which i cant justify spending and 2nd something like dss or gc coil overs which are cheaper but then again you go to buy some struts as well, but then you have to find a good spring rate which i can seem to find, are there any 1g owners out ther ethat have coil overs that can help me out here?

-Dropping more than 2" on a 91 might worsten the car handling, I use DSS's C/O kit.

I would like to add that I am using the Eibach prokit and KYB shocks on my car, 1990 AWD, and I still have like 4" fender gap on the rear. Anyone else notice this with their 1G AWD? Is this normal fender gap with the prokit setup? By the way the springs have been on the car for about 2 years, so they've had time to settle in. Below is a picture of what I am talking about.
