Alright, me and a couple of my friends are planning on doing a minor rebuild of my 134K 6 bolt motor.

If i want to go with some 2g pistons, what do i have to do to make them fit? how much oversized compared to 1g are they? Because I can get some new ones for pretty cheap.

If I'm looking to get a lil upwards of 300hp on my engine, are arp head studs needed or are there any less expensive options?

I'll only have about $1000 to do internal work, what would you guys recommend?

For 300HP, stick with all your stock 1G components (including the HG) if you are doing this on a budget. Stick with the 6-bolt OEM head-studs as well. They are all good for 500HP. :thumb:

Check for cylinder out-of roundness and taper and if they check out, get new standard size OEM rings, new rod bearings, timing belt, auto-tensioner, new oil pump gears and frontcase. Remove the balance shafts, re-hone the cylinders to obtain adequate cross-hatch, check clearances and put it back together. :)

Well, thanx for that info. It will save me money to know that I can go with mostly oem stuff. But I still can get some 2g pistons for cheap. Would I have to do any work on my engine to make them fit?

can anyone let me know what i would need to do to make 2g pistons fit in a 1g engine on the 1g rods??

If you're buying new pistons the process should be cake for any machine shop. But if you have a used set of 2g pistons on some old 2g rods, it might be hard for them to take the pistons off the rods. My machine shop said they couldn't take the pistons off the rods without the risk of breaking the piston so I ended up buying new pistons.
