Hi,

i'm trying to hook up a 90 oil cooler on my '91. I already have -AN lines from an aftermarket oil cooler. Can anyone help me with what kind of an adapter i need to make this work?

It is going to be just like the one in the picture at the end of the line, except it needs to go into the OEM '90 oil cooler

Another thing, i read somewhere that the 1st fitting on the OFH is the feedline and the one closer towards the rear of the car is for the return line.
Could someone help me identify which is the feed on the cooler when looking at it from this angle in the picture

I am kinda confused by your first quesiton but I think I got it.

The 90 oil filter housing has two threaded inlet and outlet for an air cooler for the oil, those thread pitches are 16mm x 1.5. You will need a metric adapter of that size to whatever AN hose line size you are using.

16mm x 1.5 - -8 AN - AN to Metric Adapter Fittings - Fittings & Plugs - Fittings & Hoses - SummitRacing.com

If you are looking at the OFH, with the cooler threaded ports facing you, the left is the fee right is the return. I would also mount the cooler vertically rather then horizontally and upside like the stock cooler is located. I would also feed the cooler from the bottom to ensure that the cooler is completely filled with oil and there is no air in the system.

On the cooler, the feed can be swapped with the return and vice-versa, its the position of the cooler that usually determines the return and feed of the cooler.

^^Thanks, that definetly helps me out.

What about the inlet on the oil cooler, i would assumre those are also M16x1.5? And is there a way i could figure out if my lines are -8AN or not before i go and purchase an M16x1.5 to -8AN adapter?

yea np man

I dont know the stock 90 oil cooler thread pitch for the inlet and outlet. I would assume that it is a metric fitting, since it is metric car, or BSPT fitting since the rest of the taper fittings on DSMs are british standard

Sorry I posted a M16x1.5 to -8AN, some people use -6an or -10an, it just used the link I had saved for my set up. I used -8AN. To find out what size hose ends and hose you are using I would measure the ID of the hose and fitting and see what fitting come close to yours, either -6an -8an, most likely 8 an.

Edit: Since in the first post you said you already have AN lines and a cooler, where did you purchase these lines? Is it a kit? I would assume that your order history or receipt of some kind tells you the line size you purchased.

Also dont forget to use some sort of crush washer (copper, aluminum, buna) metric threads are straight threads and dont seal, they are sealed with a washer or flare, in this case a washer
