so iam assembling my block and I read in my service manual that the main bolts are to be torqued to 18 ft/lbs than a quarter of the turn.I was wondering if this is okay or should I put it to a certain torque as opposed to the service spec. the bolts I'm using are the stock bolts and they all fall within the specs I'm just wondering iF I should because they are used

I would never reuse torque to yield bolts. They're meant to be stretched when you are torqueing them, therefore they loose most of their strength when they are removed.

my service manual says if the bolt is within spec you can reuse it.I think that's what it says I have to check though, but since they are used I feel like I should torque them to something like 50.

why cheap out to save 20 bucks with something like the stock bolts.

I don't understand your logic. Your going to over torque them, thus stretching it even more If you don't snap it first, because you know they are already used?

Come on man, just do it right.

alright I'll get new bolts. when I put the new ones in should I use some Of the torque lube I got from arp or motor oil. If so what weight?
