Ok guys i have finally got a 6 bolt engine to swap into my 2g because of my 7bolt spinning a rod, besides the write ups being kinda confusing and not really straight forward on what needs to be done to correctly do the swap i need a little help.. you guys have always been there for me so i figured this would be the best place to ask..

I got a 6 bolt long block only 1000 miles on rebuild out of a 92 eagle talon tsi and i am going to throw it in my 96 eagle talon tsi.. My question is Should i just have my good 7 bolt head bolt holes machined to go onto the 6bolt block or should i leave the freshly rebuilt 6 bolt head on and attempt the task of rewiring sensors..?

oh yeah besides that problem, i know i have to grind a little off the driver side motor mount to fit correctly and use a 6 bolt flywheel... other then that it should go right in and run... Correct?? oh and swap plug wires around seeing as ill be using the 2g intake/throttle body coil and all the accesories like power steering alternator a/c etc...

i have read the Magnus and RRE tutorials btw..

I used the 7 bolt head when I did my 6 bolt swap and it made the whole process a lot easier in my opinion by not having to relocate wiring. Also I don't need the extra airflow the 1g head is capable of for my goals.

thanks for the answer i was looking for...

thanks but i have read that several times and still didnt answer my question.. ok i can use a 7 bolt head but how do i do the cam angle sensor and all that on a 7bolt head? i know on the 6bolt head i have it has a big round thingy on the end of the cam that is able to be adjusted the cam angle sensor on the 7 bolt is just a little sensor that sits behind one of the cam wheels.

If i remember correctly, whether you use a 7 bolt head or the 6 bolt head on the 6bolt block you will still need to wire in a 1g style cam sensor. The 6 bolt block does not have the provisions for the crank sensor on the front case like the 7 bolts do.

Yes no matter what head he uses he will need to run the 1g cas. I got my adapter harness from jnz tuning ant it was built really nice. It was simple plug and play to install in the car. Make sure whoever you choose to get the adapter harness from you get it for the 95-96 year cars. Getting dsmlink would also make the swap a little easier too if you could swing it:thumb:

Ahhh ok thanks for the info.. So it would probably be better to keep the 6 bolt head on seeing as it only has 1000 miles on it and i wouldn't have to trash the head gasket. One more question could i not go with the 7 bolt head and keep the 2g style cam sensor and use a improvised crank sensor that bolts up to the 6 bolt like this one and keep everything the way its suppose to be with out changing plug wires around or ecu wires etc..?? >> 6-Bolt Crank Trigger Sensor - Kiggly Racing Parts for DSM and EVO
