6 bolt with 7 bolt head no rpm?

Okay, first off this isn't my car in my profile description. My buddy and I just rebuilt a 6 bolt bottom end and have a 7 bolt bolt head (been modded for a 6 bolt bottom end) we dropped into a 97 GSX. We arent getting any RPM signal and we cant figure out why. It has a black top CAS and we checked the wiring of that and its correct. The kid we are doing the work for had the car tuned on a apexi neo. We had to swap the wiring order to match the black top CAS he had for the car. What else do we need to do or what could it be?

I had the same problem. What I did was remove the speedo cluster. Then I took a little curve pick and cleaned all of the connector pins that go to the speed on the harness side. After that it worked fine. Also check to make sure your ignitor plug the flat square one that is on the intake manifold is grounded to something.
