i have the black wire and black and white plugged into the top sensor is that correct? my guage isn't working properly,
also if so what plugs where this is as i don't see another plug end unused.
thanks

The one with the black and white wires are for the cooling fans. The one below it with the 2 prong that doesn't have anything plugged on it is for the ECU and your gauge sender is the one next to it. It appears to have a wire on it, so I can only guess something else is wrong with that wire or the sender is dead or the gauge is faulty. The fact that your ECU sender doesn't have anything on it, isn't good as your ECU isn't getting temp signals for help controlling your idle. The other sender next to it with the 2 plastic prongs are your thermo valve and is part of the emissions control. It's not required, but you probably need to make sure the rest of the emissions stuff is done properly.

just noticed a wire hanging off to the bottom left of your pic;, check and see if it fits the 2 prong ECU plug.

naw thats black and yellow it's for the starter relay. and it's plugged in...

so i was thinking the coolant temp should actually be on the bottom of the thermostat....? like they should be swaped or something.. and this being a 2g, would it have the extra plug for the ecu?.

Right now my temp guage is working but it only goes to half way when hot, and when it overheated the otherday needing a thermostst it never went above half way,, indicating to me that something isn't right.

The Coolant Temp Sensor is the sensor on the lower half of the thermostat housing with 2 prongs (it is unplugged in your picture). The smaller sensor right next to it with a single prong is the one for the factory dash gauge.

The Coolant Temp Sensor has 2 wires, one Yellow/Green (which goes to ECU Pin #20) and the other Green/Black (which goes to ECU pin #24, sensor ground). The sensor for the dash gauge has a single Yellow/Green wire. (At least on a 1g)

The sensor on the upper portion of the thermostat housing is the A/C Thermoswitch. It's only job is to shut off the A/C if the car were to overheat with the A/C on.

so i just need to trace those 2 wires and plug it in then right?
