Just ported slightly my throttle body. Cleaned it out free of gunk and good stuff. Everything is connected and set right but when i start my car it goes to 4k rpm, slowly rises and levels at 5k. I have probably 40% of my gasket left since the other part of it cracked and isn't on there. Before I buy a new gasket, could this be the problem? the gasket I feel like is the problem here. I already reset the ECU, nothing. Please let me know on what it could be but right now im putting my money on the gasket.

did you port anywhere near the butterfly? if not, then it is likely the gasket. However, when I swapped TB elbows, and used the old gasket (torn etc...) it idled horrrible, jumped to 3k, then back to 500 (or stalled) and up to 3k and repeated.

I agree that the gasket is causing it. However i wouldn't put it past someone that reused half a gasket to port around the butterfly bore area.

Sweet, thanks for the quick responses, much appreciated. AAP ordered me a gasket to pick up tomorrow morning. I'll get it on there and keep you guys posted. Once again, thanks for the input.
