ok. I definately need new injectors. Had one quit on me today. SO..... instead of getting the factory 450's, I was wondering if I could run the 550's on my stock fuel system without having to change anything. Will it work? WTF :hmm:

They will work, you will just run very very rich. No one will recommend replacing the stock 450cc without an safc, dsmlink, or flashing a 98/99 ecu. You must do one of the previous for your car to run correctly.

fuel pump has already been re-wired... its doin great....

nope. dont have a flashed ECU. All I have dont is boost gauge, rewired fuel pump, FORGE bov, and a 16g turbo. Still running stock boost though.

if money is low just get a safc and a datalogger. FPR would be nice as well. But for 550's wha is stated above will be fine. Unless you plan on doing alot more mods in near future.

LOL. i tried reading and understanding that, but it might as well be in spanish for me. LOL. I do nuts and bolts great, but when you start talking about "reprogramming" or "changing values" in an ECU,i'm lost. Yeah, I could have it flashed and chipped and all that good stuff, but i'd never be able to do anything with it.

2g Flash Upgrades
This may be a better option for you then... .

Or if you just take the plunge an change the settings yourself Using this Cable and this software It's really not all that hard if you swapped your injectors. Really all you would have to do is this to get it running

Here's an example of what it would take to change to 680cc Injectors I highlighted the boxes I changed

ok, one more random question. I'm gonna go ahead and stick with the stock 450's. Would a SAFC help any with a "stock" setup, or is it only used for changing injectors and adjusting a/f ratios?

(Can I fine tune a stock setup with a SAFC) <-- What I meant to say.... LOL

Thats awesome. I saved these posts and pics. I'm definitely going to change a few things come spring time, and this info you all have provided is phenomenal. Definitely help when it comes time to tune everything.

So whats the preferred method of madness... $$$ being of some importance....
SAFC, Flash the ECU, or go all out and get a DSMLink?

Yes you can tune a stock fuel system since it's very rich from the factory. You need a wideband and a logger though to go with the safc.

Forget a Safc whatever you do don't waste your money on one...

EcuFlash with Ceddy mods .bin and .xdl... . All the way no hardware to get beside just the flash cable.
You would need a different ecu for link (Ie 95 Eprom) and with already having a 98-99 ecu it would be stupid to get a Safc.

The only thing I would do as far as going the flash route right now is pull the ecu now to make sure its your original Ecu.
If you post the numbers off it we can tell you if it's flashable or not or you could search yourself...
once you know it is start reading This Thread

And regardless of what you use to tune your gonna need a Wide-band at some point.
Also you can use this to log

Unless your using a tuning device you will run pig rich. But it will run LOL
