4wd on a 2 wheel dyno?

I am planning to get my car tuned and all the shops around seems to only have 2wd dynos. I would probably have to drive it roughly 80 miles round trip on 2wd. I was wondering if I take off the t-case and drive shaft drive 40 miles tune it drive it back would that cause any damage?

It would destroy your viscous coupler in the trans. Also you wouldn't have a way to keep fluid in your rear diff with the drive shaft out and it would still be spinning so you wouldn't want it to be completely dry.

If there is a large AWD DSM population, find out if the shop owner would be able to get the VCE to allow for more customers. It's a long shot but it may save you some money.

To answer your question Wes is correct. You will burn up your viscous coupler if you move only the front wheels. This is the reason why we need to be towed on flat beds as well.

You would need to install the VCE either before you drive to the dyno or have it installed there. It is also not meant to be a long term fixture to allow for constant FWD use, just a heads up.
