I just about to send my block to get machined .020 over. In search of pistons and rods I ran into a really good deal with 1g forged ross pistons with 1g rods for a 6 bolt ( I have a 7 bolt). After days of research here are my concerns:

I gather those rods will not fit my crank. Would it be possible to actually get them machined successfully? Or machine the crank successfully?

If it is next to impossible to make the 1g rods work, I have the stock 2g rods and I am willing to purchase eagles ( might as well do it good the first time) what obstacles am I facing to fit the 1g ross pistons on? I would be looking for wider bearings correct? Is there an exact product anyone is aware of?

Lastly (for now), 1g pistons have an 8.3:1 compression while 2g have 8.5:1. Is this going to be a lose for me considering forged pistons vs stock? Is it all worth it?

its not impossible, but its not really worth the work 99% of the time. are the rods forged or stock? unless theyre carillo, pauter or the like for a stupid good deal, pass and get a set of eagles, manleys etc. made for your application.

stock compression on 1g's is 7.8:1, stepping up compression is always a good way for power, but you need a way to tune as the stock 1g timing curve is very aggressive to take advantage of the low compression.

id recommend getting aftermarket rods and pistons in the compression you desire, depending on the fuel you plan to run. for instance, my next build im going to run 9.5:1 pistons, shooting for final compression in the 9.2-9.4 range, allowing me to run low boost on 92non E, or even go high boost on ethanol (this is still up in the air for me mostly, but you get the idea).
