I have recently bought a 94 talon es, with rebuilt heads, timing is correct, getting fuel and spark, compression is good. car wont start, checked the cam angle sensor numbers are good, running into a wall please help

Are the injectors firing? After cranking can you smell gas at the exhaust tip?
You will need to check all the basics yourself if you bought the car non-running.
You cannot trust people these days. If the injectors are firing and you have good spark on all four and good compression (140-150 PSI) on all four then it has to be timing. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

its timed right, double checked that, plugs are drenched in fuel, compression is 145 on all 4 across the board, dry compression test. it does seem like a timing issue though, wondering if it could be a valve timing issue? crank was set on tdc on #1 piston, the cam angle sensor was set right, getting good spark just wont start. :banghead:

okay retimed the car, checked coil packs and transistor, checked the ohm on injectors, and fuel pressure, everything checks okay, dont have any other ideas. only thing I can think of is maybe the heads were rebuilt incorrectly? I know this sounds like a timing issue, but every 9th or tenth revolution it lets out a nice backfire through the exhaust. but the timing has been checked out thoroughly, :hmm:

It sounds like by now all the plugs should be fuel fouled now with all that cranking, are you cleaning them after you make any changes to motor, also did you check to see if that the fuel injectors clips are connected to the proper cylinder.

I havnt checked the injectors to see if the connections correlate , I clean them after each attempt, what are the chances of a valves being stuck closed? would it cause it to not start? almost to the point of pulling the head and checking the valves. already replaced the coolant temp sensor, would there be any other sensor that would cause a no start situation

Since this sounds similar to an issue I was having, I'll throw in just a couple of words.

First mistake I made was the firing order. I didn't realize that the coil pack numbered 4-1-2-3 and, of course, the head is 1-2-3-4 from left to right. Make sure that's in the correct place.

Secondly I had horrible vacuum lines. They were neatly hidden breaks so it took me a bit to find them.

And lastly... the engine hadn't been started in over a year. After everything was fixed with it, it still took about 20 minutes of trying before it hit and fired up.

^^ Good luck! I understand how frustrating it can be with being so close and it not kicking to life!

Thanks for the insight, I have the firing order correct, yet to check the vacuum lines will do that this weekend, thanks again!:thumb:

if ts getting spark would the ecu be an issue? I also hooked it up to a diagnostic and the ecu never came up
