4g63 in a civic?

First things first i did have my facts straight dont start a flame war. everything i said was true about his question. he asked is it possible i said yes, maybe not propable, but possible. Furthermore i was not talking about SCC magazine in general. I meant one of the Sport compact like magazines. That is why i said i didnt remember which one. So before u start telling someone to get there facts right, u better learn how to read someones question and other peoples replies.

P.S. It did say do to honda fans it will be using a s2000 engine. now i dont know if the was the real reason, but that is what the issue said.

Your so misinformed your post is actually painful to read. They put the 4g63 in a tube frame civic drag car. They did that because they guy building the car had experience with DSMs and I believe he had some connection to Buschur. The swap didn’t last long because they changed the rules to read that the body of the car and the engine must be from the same manufacturer ex Honda/Acura. They put a s2000 motor in it so they could comply with the rules.

So I would have to say that putting a 4g63 in a civic is not fiscally practical. SCC has never done such a swap in the 3 years that I have been reading it. Next time make sure you have the facts then post.

also if they did change the rules u dont think this was done because of Honda fans. Racing is just like politics, money talks.

I think it has a lot more to do with the competition and making things fair. Fan support may have had something to do with it but I doubt it had a heavy influence.

As for the magazine you speak of. What type of project was it? Was it a street car or a track car? Or were they just reviewing the drag car?

You specifically said it was VERY possible. I would have to disagree lets leave it at that.

dont quote me on this, but i beleive it was a drag car. its been about a year since i read it so i dont really remember. i just thought it was funny when they said that they were going to remove the motor due to honda fans. alot of honda guys around here were saying that dsm had never ran as fast as civic's and this was because of mitsu motors being weak. this proved them wrong. and when they were proved wrong they cried like little spoiled kids. LOL.

and also about making things fair. u dont see mitsu guys putting honda motors in there cars. honda racers should just live with what they got and not hate on mitsu motors because they are stronger. just my .02

I was thinking of a 4G63 swap into a CRX for a drag car. I would call it the "DRAG QUEEN". I believe the Buschur swap was a rear wheel drive CRX drag car with a Chevy Trans and I believe it ran 8's.

Steve.

One of the coolest swaps I always thought was a 4g63 in an old corolla. I think it was a corolla. Used to see lots at E-town. Was a while ago though.

putting in an engine not native to your company is completely whats the word... stupid... because eventhough it can be done.. and has happened none really last long... and to note that you can put in a 4G63 in a civic you shouldnt... if he wants a honda... well i would sugest to buy anything but a civic... prelude, accord, integra.... pls anything but a civic.... but if he gets a civic something i see done and works quite well is a integra GSR engine swap into a civic. put in a turbo and innercooler... it will pull nice 12s and 13s due to the light body weight with the turbo.... and if he wants to make it faster he can always reinforce the pistons and chasis upgrade more body and then add 100 shot NOS... or even a big enough turbo to be able to rip appart a block.. and remember there is no shame in owning a civic... its just a shame to challenge people and lose and not know the reason you lost....

as for civics.... yes they are cheap and fuel efficient if thats what he is looking for... hell i'll admit they even look kinda good... and yes its the popular thing to do!! lets buy a civic and hook it up!

but the honest truth is that honda parts cost near nothing compared to what we pay for parts.... smart way to go for someone looking for acceptance of peers. hahaha i just say to everyone who shows me an intake and an exhuast on a civic... now you paid all that when u springing for your turbo.... and sooner or later they get that turbo and then they make their cars really nice and respectable.... and sometimes even fast... but at what cost.... now if u broke down him the cost and the options... its just EASIER not better and not cheaper but easier to make a faster anything else..... im sure u might be able to get him to listen more... a way to make a car fast without ripping out ur SOHC and putting in a DOHC... and for everyone who hates i would like to remind them that there is a ford focus that runs 8s.... so remember anycar can be commendable!

Mine is a town flooded with those darned things (civics). And the majority of racers near me have a B18 (GSR) swap. It's a great swap, the best I think besides H22 of course ;) and is the most bang for the buck. Ughh though, I cannot stand seeing so many civics, especially the hatchbacks. I think I'm going to move to Japan.

I have a 93 civic si hatchback with a fully built (Golden Eagle sleeves, Wiseco pistons, eagle rods, clutchmasters fly and stage5 clutch, quaife, Driveshaftshop.com stage 5 axels, 860cc injectors, custom vortech setup cog/crank driven hytech super header(on order), JG Edelbrock ITM, Ericks racing 70mm throttle body, Hondata Stage4, 24.5 in slicks on Bogart 13x9's, fully worked head ss vavles top secret port job, top secret cams springs and titanium retainers(10k rev limit)... on and on and on.. could be driven on the street stated upper 500 almost 600hp @ 20 psi with some driving an upper 9 sec pass is do-able. It would ruin almost any DSM that will be driven on the street(possibly even John Shepard)
AT THE TRACK. But for my street car (hopefully)11 sec AWD .. nothing beats awd on the street. I have all the love for both sides.. each with thier pros and cons.. racing is racing.
This is with a B16A with 84.5mm bore stock stroke.

Sorry about the grammar.. I was typing fast because I busy at work.
Im pounding sand nevermind. I was trying to make a quick point.

Honda *AND* DSM owner here... and I've dealt with both sides of the story...

First of all, the general misconception is that all Honda owners are ricers, this is definately not the case. I've had people call me a ricer for driving a Honda, yet no one really understands the amount of money it takes to make one fast, and the quality of parts one must purchase to actually make one fast. And no, we are not talking APC, and other brand products. :p For instance, my Integra has AEBS Iron Sleeves, JE Pistons, Crower Rods, Supertech Valves, Mugen Springs, Skunk2 Ti Retainers, Turbonetics HiFi BB 60-1 Turbo, Hondata Stage 4, etc. Anyways, the car is being built to put down 400+ HP at the wheels.

The other misconception about Hondas is that they aren't fast. While from the factory this may be true in a straight line, as far as auto-x goes, stock civics, integras, are GREAT platforms. Also, when it comes to road racing, many a stock ITR will eat other modified cars in this form of racing. It's all about what your car was designed to do from the factory, and the Hondas excel in Handling over Straight line balls to the wall acceleration. Granted, a lot of cars are not really built for drag racing from the factory, they just tend to be good at it. :)

Now to the other side... I've got roughly $600 aftermarket into my DSM and it rips! It's such a fun car to dump small amounts of money into and have a *REALLY* good time with. What other car can you spend an hour or so putting a boost controller, intake, exhaust, and an upper intercooler pipe on and go have SUCH a good time with? :D

The only problem I have in general with the DSM community, is the total lack of appreciation for anything that is NON DSM by some people. Yes, they are nice cars, yes they are easily made fast, but there are other forms of cars out there, and I've seen just as many riced out 2G DSM's as I have Civics. Lets face it, the sad truth is, anyone can rice any car out now-a-days. Hopefully over the years, everyone will learn to love the other cars for what they are, and not for what some retards do to them.

well put and I couldnt agree with you more..

Honda Killer: I find 220 hp and 285ftlbs of tq is really hard to believe. All the b20's Ive seen put down 200-230hp with decent compression and torque is around 160 give or take 10ftlbs.
Ive never seen a normally aspirated Honda dyno with that much hp-tq difference with tq being on top! I have to call bs on that one until I see the sheet.
Imperial are you on Honda-Tech?
