i have a 96 talon NT and it died yesterday night. i was driving it and the motor just cut out. ive already checked the distributor and the fuel pump and both were fine. the motor will turn over but just not start. i need some help

Do you mean coil pack? And exactly how did you check that? The 420A cars are distributorless. Any trouble codes at all?

Crank but no start can be a variety of things... check the wiring to the cam/crank sensors and see if those are getting a signal.

Check and see what your fuel pressure is, too. I've seen pumps that work but were not pushing enough psi to keep the car running.

Well you are going to have to check for the three main things first which will be your Fuel, Spark, and Air. If you have 3 of these then you will have to go to sensors as 95talongirl had mentioned.

Check to see if your fuel filter is clogged.

yeah ive checked the ohms on the coil pack that seemed fine. the cam sensor didnt look like it was bad. i hear the fuel pump cycling when you turn the key. il check the fuel filter tomorow. but the crank was just replaced and the sensor should have been replaced. i just bought this car a couple of weeks ago. the motor was rebuilt and a new polished crank was put in along with a brand new head and cams.

There should be a fuel filter. They are by the tank as opposed to under the hood like on the turbo cars. Yeah, check that crank sensor and make sure that it wasn't damaged when they re-installed the engine into the car.

But if you have spark at the coil and through the wires; then you're looking at a fuel issue more than likely.

It means that either the coil pack is bad or the wiring for the coil pack is bad. Make sure the connector on the coil pack is fastened securely and if so and the wiring is ok then yes the coil pack most likely failed.

well i took one of the spark plugs out and turned the motor over to see if it was getting spark and it wasn't. so that means the coil pack is bad??

You were grounding the spark plug out on something when you did this right?

Had to ask, not assuming you are dumb.

check the harness to the cam position sensor, mine died like yours and it turned out to be a fried wire that broke. this part of the harness is very close to the egr tube so that causes the burnt fried harness.

+1

if the cam or crank sensors are not working, the ECU will not get the signal to fire the coil. The problem still could be a coil; but don't rule out these sensors quite yet.
