So the time has come my friends, to replace my 420a valve lifters, for they have finally achieved in ticking me to the point of insanity. However, to do so, I must know what to do to replace these little bastards. I have searched for at least some reasonable info online about how to swap out the 420a lifters, and I have yet to discover any help. The same goes for numerous auto shops around my area in which they act like they have never seen an eclipse before with bad lifters and all the shop bums around here recommend a complete factory engine swap, tisk tisk tisk. So now I turn to all of you guys to help me out. I was wondering if anyone had any good, descriptive links on how to change/swap/replace 420a DOHC lifters, or had any advice on doing so, so that I could get this problem fixed myself with a little down time, since it's my daily driver. Help me out guys. Thanks,

Well if you want to take the cams off then its easy, just grab them with some pliers. If you want to leave the cams in use the technique in this article. Yes yes I know its a 4g63 article but the technique is almost the same.

Make sure none of your pistons are at the top of the cylinder so you don't bend a valve. Good luck :thumb:

EDIT: If you don't know how to make it so all your pistons are clear read this link

Post 9 by mark (bulletdsm) does a good job of explaining where you need to be. I think it would be hard to actually bend a valve with a screwdriver/pry bar but better safe then sorry.
