help me please. i got a 97 eclipse rs n/t it is stock to the bone. i have to hold the gas to the floor to get it to start. and if i hit the gas it dies out. when it warms up it acts better but i have to play with the gas to get it to rev up. when it gets over 2500 rpms it tacks out good. but at an idel if i hold to the floor it stays at 1100 rpms and under. i ran a test and it says o2 sensor is to rich. and when i put it in first and let out of the clutch it has no power and i have to down shift going up hills little hills and big hills. i need help please i just bought the car and i need it i work at pizza hut. thanks very much.

Well you're obviously getting fuel, but are you getting sufficent spark & air? Have you checked your plugs, wires and coil? Removed the slack in your throttle cable, cleaned your throttle body and verified that it is operating properly? Checked/changed your filter & made sure the intake is free of obstructions? How's your timing? If that's off it will definitely affect your driveability. Have you checked your cat? if it has collapsed then you're going to have issues as well.

ok up date time. i replaced plugs, wires, and coolant tempature switch. i took off cat and it looks brand new. cleaned the o2 sensor. and ran some seafoam thru it. and it has got like 5% better. but stll nothing. and now i have to get a new thermostat housing to block. it craked. and timing is good marks are all lined up. and yes when it is cooled it backfires.

Did all the plugs display the same wear characteristics? Have you checked the distribution coil? If you were closer I have a good one that you could have.

coil is probably shot on it or the ecu is bad. check your compression also then update your thread. check the ohms on the coil. check the new plugs and let us know if they are black or not. that will tell you your not getting enough spark. had similar issues a while back.

ok up date I got between 130 and 140 on all four cylenders and the old plugs were black , if I unhook the knock , crank, or cam sensor it kills my car. But when I unhook the air charge temp sensor in the back of the intake it don't do anything, no change at all, and the bottom sensor on the thartale body it don't do anything eather. And coil strong trust me it bit me the other day LOL. Aand new plugs are clean but only ran for 20 min. Got a craked thermostate housing.

maybe a ecu could be bad cause if you unplug ## cam sensor your car should not die, it should just use the previous data from the last few injections and keep injecting fuel that way

got a pic of ## motor?

ITommrow is pay day so I can get one from my buddy for 25$. And if I got maneul windows and locks all I need to worrie dout is 2.0 5 speed right? Please let me know I don't know if they as sensative as hondas?

whats cel? and i have not looked at the egr yet i can do that tonight after work. i just parked the car at the house. been riding with my dad dont want to mess it up more then it already is. and the vacuum line thats at the top of the throttle body what does it go to? its plastic and clogged but in the unit at the front passenger side of the car under the bumper. and whats a good price for a computer for it?

Ok I think I found the problem. When I started my car today my throttle body got stuck wide open. So I took it off and bam a gold mine I got sluge finger nail deep in my whole intake so that's what I will be doing tommrow. I really hope if fixes it. I'll let y'all know tommrow. Let me know what y'all think.

Yea ima take the upper and lower intake off tommrow and clean them real good . So yea hope she runs good after that I'll let y'all know. And o when is the best place to get a thermostate housing advance and auto zone don't have them. And no junk yards close to me eather.

seeing that ## throttle was gunked up it could just be the TPS sensor and IAC on ## thottle bodythat top vacuum line on the throttle body is the EVAP line
seeing that it is rich it could be ## throttle just bad and the two sensors on it that are thinking ## throttle is shut and open when it is not and putting in fuel based off that making it run wrong
Did you clean it out yet??

One more thing clean the sensors or replace them? I hope clean cause they expencive LOL

if you need to clean sensors something that i have had good luck with is QD electrical contact cleaner from a parts store

for anybody that lives by charlotte, nc my dad is looking for a truck. small but can tow a car on a dolly. he looking pay 1,ooo, to 1,200. please let me know. I got my upper intake off and egr cleaning them now. Putting them back on tommrow . I'll let y'all know what happens tommrow.

Yea it is it says o2 sensor; is to rich bank1 sensor 1

Heres a dump question about that vaccum line on the tb. I have similar issues but on a totaly fresh rebuild. My throtle response between idle and 2500 rpms is realy slow, however I have that vaccum line from the tb running to a vaccum manifold. Could this be an issue?

I don't know I just got mine all back togather and no difference. This is really killing me now when it heats up it idals at 4 grand. So next will be computer and if it don't work its for sell I bought it for 800 and I put in a couple sensors and gaskets. All I want is 8

I'm really not selling it I just had a bad day anybody got new segestions and my sis has a 95 with a auto trany will her computer work for mine?
