I may have access to a 99 GST chassis that has no motor or tranny and was just wondering what would be needed to swap in a 420a engine. I have access to a 420a engine and manual tranny from a 98 GS. I don't want the 4g63 engine, just to clear that up, so please don't just throw that out as an answer. I need responses from those that know. Thanks.

For the amount of money it would cost to get the custom fabrication done(motor mounts, tranny mounts) all the wiring and accessories(ecu, header, etc.) you could find a GS or RS with the motor already in it. If you just want it to be NT you could swap in a NT 6 bolt motor(i think) and turbo it later if you wanted to.

Damn, you mean the actual chassis mounts are different? I was hoping it was predominatly the the wiring.

I couldn't just go to the junkyard and pull the parts I need to make it possible?

itd really not that easy. the 420a is mounted 180degrees opposite of the 4g.

It would take quite some fab work, and as stated above, you can just find an already 420a complete shell with motor for the price you would pay to make it work.
I myself would just find a cheap 4g63t and throw it in there.

Firstly, sorry for bringing up a very old thread....but i found it very useful.
Thank you everyone for all the info + pics especially...

I recently bought a 98 GS but the engine is done, I found a 420a which I plan to put in...I have been searching for some detailed information about replacing a 420a. Is there a sequence that I should be following when removing the engine and when putting in the engine, I would say its probably the opposite of the removing.

Thank you,
