I tried to search this, but I can't seem to find anything specific to the 420a.
I was wondering if it was possible to remove the EGR transducer solenoid? It got some HEAT off the manifold and it melted the little nipple that conects it to the vacuum line. So as of right now I disconected the end coming off the engine and pluged it. It seems to run fine like that, but I just got a CEL and I'm assuming that EGR Transducer not being connected is the reason. Should I just get a new solinoid? or can I block that off?

:dsm: :laser:

If you're asking, yes you can block off the entire egr system. It's a back and forth argument and always will be. Just do some searching and make an informed decision for yourself. If it's of any concern, mine melted through my main wiring harness twice...now it's bye bye :p

If I do decide to block off the entire system, will I get a CEL? Or is there a way to bypass it with a resistor or something so that it doesn't turn on the CEL?

Yes you can and should block off the EGR. I just did this for my install and everything runs much smoother. It's just another vaccuum source. I bought the MOPAR block off kit. Of anything, it will get rid of the CEL...

If you can't afford the block off kit right now, feel free to make one yourself. It's honestly only a couple plates, and I wish I had made mine now that I think about it. Just make sure you use a gasket material for the plates, otherwise you'll have a vaccuum leak. Take off the complete pipe and solenoid, then use cardboard as a base template of what shape/size you need for the block off. Go to LOWEs or Home Depot and buy 1/4" think sheet metal. Less that 6x6 would be fine. Just trace you cardboard template on the metal, cut it out, and bolt it up directly to the original EGR location. Thats all it takes and does.. Just don't forget to USE GASKET MATERIAL, people! It's the little things that make a difference and reduce headaches..

It can be aluminum plate.

I just used a piece of aluminum soda can, cut to the right shape, in between the solenoid and the head. For the opening on the intake manifold, I cut off one of the flanges on the pipe, and welded a plug in the center.
