so the other day i took my car to autozone to check my check engine light and one of the codes was a bad egr valve or whatever. so i start to look at the egr valve and i realze that the egr solenoid is just hangin there. well i was looking and my egr solenoid wasnt even plugged in. could this have been causing my egr valve to fail. also my egr solenoid is making a ticking noise and i have heard that is kind of common for our cars but is it bad and do i need to relace it. i have searched the forums already and i have found the answer that i am looking for so if you could plase help me with this i would greatly appreciate it

its more than likely so, with some of these cars even if you do a emissions removal you have to leave the solenoid plugged in to avoid check engine lights, have you tried disconnecting the negative on the battery, and then plugging it in to see if it goes away, if it dont im sure its something you could pocket at a junkyard.

do you remember what codes exactly 2GNT.com - PCM_Error_Codes

Basically in a nut Shell the egr pitz some of the exhaust has back into theintake to get reburnt in the cylinders there for helping to put less emmisions back into the air. yours is clicking because it is trying to open but the motor inside is broken causeing the cel to come on. You could put a new one on to fix the clicking or you can just leave it Unplugged, up to you. Hope this helps

ummm.. i'm pretty sure the exhaust gas doesn't get reburnt. I'm pretty sure it's because it doesn't burn that it lowers the combustion chamber temperature. Because; the higher the temperature the more, i can't remember either NOx or CO gets made. Lower the temperature, the less dangerous gases are made. Correct me if I am wrong.
