Hey guys,
So im doing the timing on my built turbo 420a. I have to do this because my stupid hydraulic tensioner failed on me and it walked toward the engine and started shredding itself. So i am doing a mechanical tensioner conversion and i wanted to put on an aluminum crank pulley. But i can't find them anywhere online! I checked ebay and everything! Does anyone have a place where i can get one? Thanks guys

Here is what I am currently using:

Underdrive Pulleys - MPx Underdrive Pulley w/ Belts 00-05 Neon

The belt for the power steering is only a 4 band instead of a 5 band. I am only running power steering off it and have had zero issues for months now.

Also the pulley is aluminum but it has a steel sleevewhere it mounts to the cranck shaft.

ATI dampener is actually the best. its actually a harmonic balances
Careful here. I don't think that's a UDP (though I'm not ABSOLUTELY positive on this). Plus I don't think there is any weight savings (in addition $450 would be a little more than necessary to spend ;)).

While the term harmonic balancer is used for the pulley, its not actually a harmonic balancer. Our engines are internally balanced. The little rubber strip that is on the pulley is actually for pulley "noises" making less vibration into the interior of the car (at least that's the theory). Which I know is not much different than a harmonic balancer :p. its just that it is not a necessity for having the engine beat it itself up due to the harmonics within the engine at upper rpm (as in the 4G63).

Hence the reason that our real fear of the E-Bay udp's is throwing belts and sqeaking, not beating our engines up.

This answers my ? on another thread so udp can be used on with a turboed 420a with no damage to the engine. Good to know.

I run a OBX pulley that ai got off ebay it's a nice pulley but your right bullett it sqeaks like crazy sometime. I figured this was the pulley you was refering to the ebay udp's.

Yeah, that's the drawback to the Ebay's (in general); possibility of sqeaks or throwing belts. That's usually due to a groove situation.

The aftermarket pulleys especially the cheaper version the tolerance in the belt grooves suck. I would just install another factory pulley. Chrysler factory turbo cars Neon (hamster) and Calipers use the same set up.

Yea our correct, i should have called it a dampner ;). And as i look at it, your correct its not underdriven.
My vote is stay with stock.
