I got into a argument with this kid who used to own a neon and he said that the bottom end of his 420a motor is the same thing as my 4g63t motor. I called people and he did the same and were at a stand still. So i was wondering if they are the same or not even close as i was told.

im going to say no, there not, because none of the parts are the same, (crank, pistons, rods) the trans is on the opposite side (same side as newer evo but not his 4g63t) just looking at the obvious but i could be wrong.

Um... no.

Chrysler builds the 420a

Mitsubishi builds the 4G63

Lol rediculous statement made by your freind. You should slap him in the head. He might have been refering his block to being the same as srt-4s. The srt-4 engines are the 420a revised alittle and stroked from what my buddy told me. Funniest thing i heard today.

2g Eclipse non turbo = 420a, same as some neons thats probably why he thinks that. Turbos have the 4g63 which is completely different.

Aside from the exhaust manifold studs, nothing is the same between the 420a and the 4g63. As mentioned, the 420a is very similar to the engine found in the SRT-4, but is nothing like the 4g63. The bottom end of the 420a is like hot butter compared to the bottom end of the 4g63t.

The 2g non-turbo models do use the 420a, though with a different configuration from that found in the Neon. The bottom end of the 2gnt's 420a is the same as found in the Neon's 420a.

thats exaclty what i thought
and he was talking how he is gonna take his head off one of his neons and put on my block, so i grabbed my block last night but he never got the head

Actually the 420a in my N/A is not really anything like the SRT-4.

They may have blocks that are similar but two different engines, and heads.

The 420a in the N/A has a completely different head, intake is on the back, exhaust is on the front. the SRT4 has the intake on the front and the exhaust on the back, has forged internals, and is 2.4L vs the 420a being a 2.0L.

Yea, I'm sure you know that already but I was just clearing it up for the thread ;)

Like i said though. The srt-4 is a stroked version of the 420a. LOL this thread sucks.
