What's up tuners! Finally got all my plumbing and wiring done for my 4g63 N/A automatic to 5 speed swap. But here's the deal, I used to have idle surge with my old ISC, so got a fresh one off eBay. I also cleaned the throttle body with all the sensors on it. What happened was, throttle was sticky but cold starts at 3k rpm and warmed up to 2500 rpm. I took a closer look at my TPS was loose a tiny bit on the bottom screw. So I took everything back off, tightened up the TPS. Now I guess it's running better but then I tightened idle biss screw all the way in, brought warm idle to 1,500.. What did I do wrong an how can I fix this issue properly? Do auto and 5 speeds have longer or shorter idle screw? Any ideas?

In the pic you can see the loose bolt or screw on the TPS hahaha nice. That's tightened but shouldn't the car bog or not start when idle screw is tightened all the way in? Something not right. All new vacuum lines too

There's a way on vfaq to properly adjust the idle, I don't think just turning the screw works, possible vacuum leak.

Take note it used to be pushing a heavy ass torque converter. Now just a clutch kit. I don't that makes a difference, but all the way tightened brings warm idle to 1500 then any looser raises it. I think max idle is 3k cus I had it fairly loose in the past. I'm just not sure what it was cus everything worked great when I parked it a year ago. Just got tired of a stinky and heavy burnt out auto trans.

That's right, the ECU wouldn't know the BISS has been adjusted for a new idle. You'd need to follow the write up for it to work correctly.

I had an issue with my TSI that was similar. It would idle at 2k. Fix was putting more coolant in it. The temp sensor was sending the ecu crazy signals because it wasn't in the coolant. Kinda weird. I'm reading up on it so i can figure out why.

So the Vfaq is referring to grounding something out while cars on and adjust biss screw? What if it's still high idle when those connectors are grounded out? I'm sure mine is 2k cold start and 1500 warm so let me know if you find it on your TSI.

So I tried grounding the 2 probes, no change. The idle biss is all the way tight, 1500 warm idle, grounded wires and nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong or what do you guys think. So many straws have been pulled but I'm still motivated to fix the issue. Please help

Lucky for you man! I just got a fresh O-ring for the idle biss screw, another TB gasket, and seemed to put the last one on upside down ): :) so fingers crossed for tomorrow morning

I have a similar problem, and I think I know what's wrong with mine.

Mine starts up at 3K RPM and goes up to 4.5K RPM after a bit.

The BISS is all the way in.

Big WTF.

This was after an AFPR and filter, plugs and wires upgrade.

But I just realized, I had to relocate some things in the bay to mount the AFPR on the wall, and one of the things I had to move was the ground wire attached to the intake manifold. This same ground wire bolt allows the throttle cable to be adjusted up to about 2 inches.

And when I reattached the bolt, it moved, and, for some reason, I decided to pull it all the way before securing it.

So I figure the throttle cable 2" pulled could be like stepping on the gas pedal 2"?

Well I hope this fixes my problem. Maybe you did the same? Good luck. Here's a thread if you need more ideas: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/392344-throttle-cable-adjustment-not-2-bolts.html
