I am buying a 96 :dsm: GST:dsm: in about 4 days. I drove it for the first time today. I took it easy at first nothing to make the guy mad. After he got out and I got to drive it myself, I felt a sputter at 3k rpm to mid 4k. I immediately thought it was a fuel problem like a clogged injector. I thought it may be a misfire but why would it only happen at those rpm's at a consistent throttle pressure (35% - 75% THR) and never at full. Also the plugs and wires were replaced not too long ago. I searched for it and all that really came up were suggestions on the wires and plugs. Seeing as how those have been swapped and its still there I am thinking fuel. I dont think its a boost leak because its hitting full boost still. Any thoughts as to pursue this problem?

I had the same problem when I switched my plugs and wires. I tried everything... I even bought new coils. In the end all that I had to do was check my plug gap. I gapped them down to between .026 and .028 and the car ran perfect. I felt kind of stupid for not having done that first. I hope this helps.

All your gonna get is "Check your plugs and wires" cause 9 outta 10 times thats the case. As stated above, the gap can be a little outta spec and make the car buck/studder. Check'em and chang'em.

yup I concur with everyone plugs not gapped. I bought my car with crappy bosch plugs ungapped and it studdered and bogged above 3k rpms, especially at 5k.

Another vote for plugs. Make sure they're NGK BPR6ES at .028.
However, use the stuttering to bang the crap out of his asking price, first. "Uhh, I dunno, I don't like that jerky thing. I think the fuel system might be about done, you know these do that when they get this old...."

I would like to say one more thing. I sold my Honda because I was so in love with this GST. I use to go on HondaSwap.com and everyone there was just angry and unhelpful. So far everyone that has responded to me had no attitude and was really seriouis about solving my problem. You guys are awesome! Thanks ALOT!:D

Stumbling is caused by a poor ignition system. NGK BPR 6ES spark plugs gapped at .028" are what you need to use. I don't care what Auto Zone says, they're wrong if they say otherwise.
Spark plugs check out okay...
Check your plug wires for resistance. 15k Ohms? I believe is what a stock plug has. Any more than that, you have a bad plug wire. I will verify this for you.
Plugs check out okay...
Check your coil pack for resistance. Meansure both primary and secondary coils.
Most importantly, check for boost leaks.

I did what Defiant said and used the sputtering as a tool to get the car cheaper. after wanting 7k i brought him down to 4200!:thumb: LOL! thanks for giving me ideas. after that idea i just kept going with parts it could have been and kept knocking off money. at the end he thought his car was going to blow up! btw: it was the plugs. they looked pretty old.:D

No where else in the world will you find a community that will help you fix your car and give you advice on how to rip the guy off you're buying it from! Gotta love Tuners....

3000 off the original price! thats GREAT!
the only other time i've seen that (not to say it hasnt been done elsewhere) is when i bought my car 2 years ago. the kid wanted 10,000 and i got him down to 7K with all the stock parts he had in his garage and other bolt ons that he already did. i sold all the stock parts and the extra set of wheels (man i wish i still had those swirlies) to get some more money back.

this is going to be the stupidest question ever on my part i promise. i am really lazy and am having realyl bad luck today!:( i very much dislike fridays that are the 13th. anyway, what is the bolt pattern on this car. 5 x _____________???????????

shit you got me....
search it, i know ive seen it before
might be 114? dont take my word on that one tho.
