3D Printed Bumper Risers | Purchasing Thread

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Where you can by 2G bumpers anywhere nobody makes 1G but especially 1GB bumpers. I’ve been trying to get Sergio at Carbonetics to make a batch of stock fronts since they are so hard to find no completely trashed.

I appreciate everyone's patience while I figured all of this stuff out. The ABS was tricky to get the print right, ended up having to redesign the riser, and print it on a different face. For those of you who haven't ordered yet, here's the rundown:

I had to print on the front-side of the riser. This makes the surface on the front kinda rough. I sanded and polished the front-side of the riser to make up for this.

The first sets of risers were sent out today! Thank you to everyone for all of the support, I'm looking forward to seeing the difference that it makes on your cars. I'm almost caught up on orders, if I haven't let you know that your set is sent out, expect it to be sent within this week.

If you're interested in a set and haven't ordered, send me a message! I'll only be producing these for the next couple of weeks. I'm moving to the other side of the country at the start of January and there will be a large period where I won't be able to make 3D printed parts. Hopefully I will be able to get situated and continue printing stuff.

Got my set yesterday and they are beautiful works of art man! Feel solid, and look great (too bad they'll be hidden)
Thank you for the kind words! Be sure to take some photos I want to see the difference that they make on your car.

I'm glad you asked! After some delays for a multitude of reasons: people getting sick, printers not working, etc. I finally am back up to making bumper riser sets!

Some good news: The risers are now made out of ABS+. If you want to do your own research, this is essentially ABS, however it is much more conductive to printing. That is, the layers stick together much better and the prints generally come out better. This means much stronger risers as they won't tend to break at the layer height lines. I did a test where I put the bolt-end under a chair and stood on the "wings" of the riser and it NEARLY held my weight before splitting. The risers also went under a tiny-bit of a redesign. I just wanted to make all of the lines cleaner, and take out useless material to make it lighter. These risers are pretty crazy light for how strong they are. Below is a pic of @Eclipse 1998 's new set for reference on how all of the new ones will look. The front-side is still acetone-polished, mostly just because I got attached to the glossy look.

The sorta-bad news: The price of a set is now $80 USD shipped. I'm trying to expand into making other products, creating risers faster and stronger, and the expenses are outweighing the profit. Most profit goes back into creating other products anyways. I'm currently working on a drop-in touch-button switch-panel for the center-console cup/change holder. Details are soon to come on this, and will have it's own thread.

Just send me a pm and I can print you a set and send it over! I'm really looking forward to what the next few months will bring in terms of sick new 3D printed parts.

I'll be taking a short break from making the risers at the end of this week (I'm going back across the country to work on the cars). If you're interested in a set, message me! I'll be sending out this last batch later this week.

First of all, thank you for actually testing your product and showing what they can do. I think it's awesome that you took the info given to you and used it constructively and not getting all upset that someone was questioning you like 98% of the internet does. So keep that up, the community (and world) need more people that can do that.
Secondly, I think its a fantastic idea! I have the boosted fab solution to this product that is made of metal and I love them. I can definitely see some people going with the printed plastic over the metal for weight savings.
Lastly, any other product ideas you have in your head? Id love to see what else you have in your mind for our cars.

I’m working on a drop-in replacement for the center console cup holder right now. One for a switch-panel and one with 2 cup holders. https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/feedback-center-console-switch-panel-cup-holder.527385/#post-153754053

I have some other stuff that I’m thinking about that’s really early development but I don’t want to talk about it solely because it would be way cooler to just unveil it when it’s done.

Looking forward to see what you come up with, good luck sir!

Hey all! Bumping this thread again.
Working on another sweet project and I need funds to finish it (especially with this whole COVID thing, the Canadian dollar sucks). I printed off two more sets of ABS+ bumper risers. I'd love to get them out the door so I can keep working on this project that I think you guys will enjoy seeing.
Let me know if you want a set!

I agree on the PLA warping. I had a PLA tablet mount inside the car and after one day of it being in the sun it literally melted. May be different outside behind a bumper though.
