Dont have a logger yet so i cant check the injector duty cycles i was wandering what is the max boost that can be run on 390's with a hacked mas, 91 oct, and rewired fuel pump. Thanks for the help.:talon:

i understand that the automatic 1g's came with the 390's and a 13g turbo. but this is not the place to post this question.

i just did a search lookin for max boost on 390's and found no information. i suggest asking this question on the tuning section of the forums.

boost is irrelevant. what turbo do u plan on using the 390's with? the stock 13g? 14b? 16g?

a buddy of mine is running about 13 psi on his 16g with his 390'cc injectors. i would say that shood be the furthest i would go with 390's on a 16g. he hit fuel cut at 15 psi on the 16g. This was all on 93 octane though.

For you i would not go past 10 psi with a 16g on the 390's with 91 octane on a 16g. As for the stock turbo , the 13g, i know nothing about it.

Before I upgraded to a Big 16G I ran my 390's at 14-15psi with no problems on the stock 13g. Soon after I got my Big 16G installed and ran the same boost on the 390's, I melted an exhaust valve. When I got the head rebuilt i upgraded the fuel system too.

My suggestion is to run NO more than 14-15 psi on the 13g and 390's.

Not even 14-15 psi. You said so yourself, you ran that boost and melted something. There you go. I wouldnt even put that turbo on without bigger injectors. If you can, scoop up some 450's and you will be able to get that boost safely. 550's or 660's preferred.

Tyler,

Read my post again. I stated that my car ran with NO problems on the 13g and 390's at 14-15 psi... I stand by my own experience with the stock setup, You can run 14psi safely on the 13g. The 13g pushes about 360CFM at 15psi. The Big16G pushes about 550CFM at the same 15psi. It is easy to see now, why I melted a valve on the stock fuel system with the Big16G. Had I known then what I know now about turbo's I would have turned the boost down to 12 or 13 psi for the B16G until I installed my FIC 650cc injectors.

one other thing i was wandering is two of my injectors are blue tops and two are black tops is that normal, i dont really know what the previous owner did to the car but it is a 94 with a 6 bolt engine so i think he might of swapped the motor in and acidently mixed injectors.

i understand what your saying. i was just stating also that it is not wise to push 14-15 psi on a 16g with 390's. i was also saying that you had melted a piston by doing this. i was trying to get my point across to the original poster to have bigger injectors before increasing boost on the 16g.

Bule and Black are USUALLY the color of 450cc's. But look on the injector to make sure...it actually says what CC it is. On one of the sides of the colored plastic piece.

Here's my personal experience with my 94 1g Turbo AT AWD..

-Got it bone stock with 32K on it, back in '98

-Did all of the "Free Mods" via the VFAQ -No problems, but I noticed some unusual sounds coming from the center section of my OE 13g.-Fearing the worst, I planned on upgrading to a 16G..... Then I started to look into supporting mods for it and since all I was finding online was recommended boost specs for the OE 450cc MT injectors (about 12-14 lbs out of a 16g).

I used a set of MT 450cc injectors, combined with a FP rewire and the 16g/2g Exh Man & O2 combo with a full 2.5" exhaust. -Still running the modded OE BCS on a hacked aircan = 9 psi.

..To make a longer story short, as I was performing the turbo swap, I ended up discovering that wierd noise was coming from. -Turns out that the 13g's stock ring-gasket (that helps mate the turbo's hot side to the exh man) has a seam in it (unlike the larger 6cm one that the MT's 14b's get). -SOMEHOW, this seam seperated and it ended up droping down and stopped less that 1" away from my turbo's exhaust wheel,(THANK GOD I changed it when I did!!!) and was rattling around inside the snail of the hot side, centimeters away from certain turbo/engine detonation!

-Oh well, put the 16G in and never looked back... Since then, I have added a EBC and a lot of instrumentation was able to turn it up to about 15psi. -With this setup, I got a lot of knock (Knock LED) at anything over 15lbs of boost.

-With the low cost of a set of used OE MT injectors, why don't you guys use them and increase the "Safety Margin" just a bit, so you don't end up melting anything. -I have run that setup in my daily driver now for about 4 years with about 70K more miles on it with no problems.

MY OE 1G 390cc injectors had grey colored tops. The 2G 450cc injectors that I got initialy from a buddy's 2G had black tops. The 1G 450cc's are blue top.

-I noticed that the 2G 450's had a slightly different spray pattern compared to the 1G 450's. -The 2G had a figure 8 spray cone at the end of it, while the 1G just had the exposed pintle valve head. -My car seemed to pull a lot harder with the 1G 450's than the 2G's, but had a rougher idle.

My current setup now includes a set of JDM 510cc yellow tops. -This with some other stuff has let me boost as high as 21lbs of boost with 5-7 knock counts (MMCD logger) and the ONLY time that I see the Knock LED turn on is when I start it up! -I had to SERIOUSLY hack the MAS air meter to lean this pig out a bit, but it was WAY WORTH IT!! -I would HIGHLY recommend this setup for Daily Driven/Weekend Warior (without a lot of $)

...I saved the old tweaked-out Ring Gasket from the 13g, as a token of good luck. -It stays in the center console now.

Hope this helps, as I have been here once myself. -Incidentally, I have that same set of 1G 450's. Anyone want them? -I'll sell them for $50 shipped.
