Hey guys my buddies 91 Talon TSi is idling at about 3 grand, now the thing is that he bought the car all jacked up from somebody and the previous owner put in a used ECM from an automatic 1g and the car is a manual. My friend wants to know if the difference in ECM's could contribute to the high idle.

Thanks ~Mark :talon:

It wouldn't effect the idle but it will #### up a bunch of other shit, seeing that auto 1g's came with smaller injectors and smaller turbo's. The idle can be caused by a whole slew of things. The most usual are a bad o-ring around the biss screw, a vacum leak(usually the tb gaskets) a bad TPS, or a bad IAC. Has he even tried to adjust the biss screw? Has he done a boost leak test??

i had a high idle after a rebuild once, around 3-4k rpms, turned out i had a vac leak where the EGR pip bolted to the intake, fixed the leak and dropped the idle to normal. now, im not saying its because of your EGR pipe, im just saying that a large leak like that would cause a high idle. hope that helps any

No he hasn't done anything to the car yet, its just sitting in his garage taking up space and yeah there is a lot of things wrong with it. He picked the car up for 800 bucks and all he wants to do is make it a daily driver.
