I just got done adjusting my ACT 2600 to a good engagement point on jack-stands getting ready for the first big break-in of my car. When I would let out the clutch, only the rear 2 wheels and the front passenger side wheel would turn. The driver side one would move a bit, but nowhere near what the other 3 are doing. What is the problem here?

Only drivetrain mods are ACT flywheel and clutch...tranny was working fine when I swapped the motor. Please help!!!

Something is causing the driver's front to bind (stuck caliper? bad CV joint?) and the open front diff is sending the power to the passenger's front.

Thanks for the reply...

Forgot to mention, both front calipers are off completely and both front axles, hubs, shafts, joints are brand new. It turns over by hand just fine and it spins the passenger side the opposite way just like it should.

Front diff is open. Only really sends power to one wheel. To make sure your front diff is ok, spin one front tire. The other side should spin in opposite direction.

Yea, when I spin the driver side it moves the passenger side in the opposite direction like it should. Thanks for the replies, just had me worried for a bit. As soon as I get my new calipers tomorrow, it will be on the ground.

Alright well the car seemed to drive fine for the initial break in, except for what I thought was an alignment problem...the wheel is cocked a little bit towards the driver-side (left) in order to go straight, but when I step on the gas, at higher rpms/speed it feels like that left front axle kicks in and the steering wheel goes straight...I can feel it starting to pull kinda funny.

Also, I can hear a grinding/scraping noise from the front end when I turn it...mostly when I turn right. It doesn't happen every time I turn hard right, and sometimes it happens just coasting. Reverse seems to accentuate the noise, but it could be just me.

This sounds like a case of an improperly torqued axle nut, or a bad wheel bearing. The scraping noise could be from the rotor hitting the caliper or the brake dust shield, which itsself could be bent causing it to hit the rotor.

Yea, I thought it could have been the brake dust shield too so I took them both off and still have the same problem. I fear it may be a wheel bearing, the front left one didn't spin as free as the front right but I didn't think that would cause bad noises like this. Maybe I'll hafta get new ones installed.

They are only $75. If you can take a trans in and out, a wheel bearing isn't hard. Buy a sledge hammer though. ;)

Well it started making the sound more often during any turning and braking...looked at all the rotors and the outside of the front left rotor is all scratched up. All the other rotor faces are perfectly smooth except for that one. I guess its time to put it up again. :(

Today I took off the caliper to take a look at that rotor and I noticed a good inch of play in the wheel all around...wheel bearing. I went to pull off the rotor and it pulled the hub plate off with it exposing the wheel bearings. Good thing I put it up.

Where are the bearings for $75? Cheapest I can find around here is about $129 for the assembly.

Damn, that bearing was shot!

I think I picked it up at NAPA... I don't remember exactly, it was ages ago.

Your tellin me...scares me to see how little was holding the wheel on.

Thanks for the advice, for some reason the price at Advance when I actually went in was $55 cheaper than online  So I picked it up for like $77...now I just gotta wait for UPS to ship it.

Thanks again. :thumb:
