Does the Megan 3" Downpipe bolt up to the stock o2 housing? I've got an exhaust leak in the flex section of my stock DP and have read tons of great reviews on the Megan Exhaust systems.

BTW, i'm already aware of the *fixed* DP, and to make sure i get it from a credible source.

I actually just picked up a MR downpipe from a friend. But the thing is there is absolutely no neck downs it is full 3inches. So I'm guessing maybe I have an older version or could this be the new version? Regardless I know I need a aftermarket 02 housing but in your case with the 2.5 it will bolt up to the stock housing.

It's a completely different thread then the one you posted earlier. The thread I linked is entirely on the changes that MR made to the old DP that didn't fit right. It also shows the entire exhaust, from DP to Tip.

It's the same thread, -I linked to the last page of the thread in post #19 and then you linked to the first page in post #21. Click the links and check the thread titles. Not that it really matters or anything.

Kinetic Boost:
The issue with the top is that the O2 housing studs are too close to the pipe to put on the 19mm nuts, this doesn't necessarily mean you need a new O2 housing.

A quick way to tell if you have the new or old pipe is to look at the rear flange, when the pipe is in the position it would be in on the car the rear flange on the old one is horizontal and the new one is angled.

:) ;)

I still don't understand how a 3" DP can bolt up to a 2.25" cat flange. Is the reduction in the adapter piece?

So the revised 2g AWD DP goes from 2.5" to 3" and bolts straight up to the stock O2? That's what I need...as long as it bolts to the stock cat, too, I'm "golden".

Not sure about 2Gs but I just got my Megan DP and its 3 bolt flanged at the Cat and my stocker cat is two bolt.
Friday I installed a Evo manny and Megan tubular 2.5 O2 and it bolted to my stock exhaust.

I have the downpipe, it bolts up to stock. The flange fits the stock O2 housing although the hole is significantly bigger than the stock O2 (a nice port job comes into play here). The megan is not a true 3" downpipe, it goes from 2.5" before the flex section to 3" after. From my research that's enough to flow about 400-500hp worth of exhaust.

Sice you are AWD you MUST look at the product before you buy and confirm that it's for AWD. Older versions are for FWD ONLY. The revised version fits, but I'm under the impression that lots of vendors still don't know what they have yet since it's less than a year old.

The piece is a beauty and well worth the $90 I got it for when Megan first started selling it. :)

You are correct in that. SBR wasn't even aware of the revised downpipe, which is one reason I received the wrong one (see the original MR exhaust thread linked earlier for the whole story). Since then, I have returned the downpipe for credit, which is already used up on clutch stuff that I needed anyway. I also called Megan Racing a few days ago and got the basic info on the downpipe. They actually remembered me from their conversations with SBR and from the pictures I sent them showing the issue. The downpipe they have pictured on their site is actually a picture of the old downpipe, and the part number is also the old version's part number. The old part number is MR-SSDP-ME9599GSX. The new, revised part number is the same, but has a V2 at the end. This should be the part number on the box you recieve. For anyone ordering from a vendor, I highly suggest that you call the vendor and verify that this is the part number you are ordering. Some vendors still have stock from before the revision and aren't aware of it. I'll be ordering the correct downpipe directly from Megan Racing as soon as I get back from Michigan and can get on the phone with their tech. He apparently thinks I was "missing a piece" in some of the photos I sent. I simply think it's just a matter of the downpipe flange being clocked wrong.

I'll order the new version, take a few photo's and compare on here for everyone's information.:thumb:

Thanks for the info. But does the 3" pipe bolt up to the stock AWD cat? I can port the O2 out to 2.5" no problem, but I need to know if I need the catback at the same time or if I can get this first and then do the catback later to spread out the spending spree.

No_Skillz, the FWD pipe may not be a true 3" pipe but the AWD pipe I recieved is a true 3" pipe, except for about 2" where the pipe flares away from the O2 housing flange. That could be part of the issue with fitting the nuts back onto the stock O2 housing studs with AWD pipes. I don't think it's the same as the FWD pipe, but it is definitely the older version with the incorrect flange.

The 2G AWD 3" dp is a cat delete pipe. It bolts straight to the catback.

The AWD pipe I received, even though it's the first version, is also a true 3", except for that small length where it pinches in a bit towards the O2 flange. Megan Racing knows that it causes trouble with tightening nuts, so that was one of the two issues that I think they tried rectifying with the revision. As soon as I order the new pipe, I'll see if they neck it down moreso than the first version I got, or if it stays 3". The FWD downpipes I've seen all seem to neck down severely in front of the flex section.

I just updated this thread with info and pics of the revised MR downpipe. It's still a whole 3", however like the old pipe before, the pipe pinches in about 1/4-1/2" at the O2 flange. But it is the same diameter before the flex pipe as it is after. Good stuff. :)

Just anycase anyone wanted to know this wont bolt up to the stock exhaust. I spent like 45min getting the old rusted bolts off and come to find out the outlet of the downpipe is too big to bolt up to the stock exhaust. The holes are in the correct "position" but this thing dwarfs the stock exhaust, even with a gasket it wont seal up, its just too big. It looks like it will bolt up to the stock o2 housing, though it is much bigger than it also. I guess ill just have to wait and get some exhaust and do it all at once.
