well i figued someone in the dsm world could help me.
first off my car is a 91 ford escort gt 1.8 dohc running a big t3/t4,megasquirt,equal length e-manifold, tail wastegate just dumping, ect, ect . im only running 15 psi right now with the tune i got. so here is my ?

Im running 3 inch exhaust from turbo back thru only a dynomax bullet muffler,
no cat,no res. and my car is loud and has a little raaspy sound to it, that i don't like,
i would like a deep sound not a riceyy sound.
her is a link to the muffler = http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=400358+302177&autoview=sku

can anyone help me find a way to not get that raspy sound, or know a good resonator or
a alternative too a resonator, or just tell me what you guys run???

I use to own a dsm and i know you guys can give me some good advise.i hope you can help out even though im not a dsmer anymore.
thanks

Not to sound like a D*&^, but why are you still here if you dont own a DSM anymore, you are now on the darkside, with a FORD ESCORT, and you are boostin, come one bro, you should have never left..... but here, get a muffler with a resonator, with or without it being adjustable. And you will keep getting that ricey sound, cause it is a POS, sorry bro. Domestics are more for NA or supercharging, whereas imports are for turbocharging. Junk it and I suggest getting off of this site, everyone here is really really picky about the way things work, but I cant blame em, we dont solicit honda crap or FORd crap here either..... :talon:

hahahahahahaa imports are for turbo charging but not domestics ahahahahaha jesus that has to be one of the most ignorant posts in the history of tuners. Please tell me that this set up on my domestic truck didnt make more power than you can ever think about making? http://www.sportmachines.com/gallery/91Sy1741/112_1271

FORD crap? Id take a Cosworth escort over a DSM anyday of the the week.

as far as an exhaust I would assume that something with a resonator or at the very least not having a straight through muffler might quite it up and take away the "buzz" of the exhaust.

First off, I'll second that being one of the most ignorant posts I've seen on this site. Ever heard of an SRT-4? What about a Merkur? And yea I'd love to own a Cosworth Escort. I was at the track yesterday and saw a turbo Mustang (late 90's style) run. He let off at the 1/8th mile and coasted the rest of the track and ran a 10.50.

Now to the original post...

You have a DOHC 1.8L with tiny ports and a big turbo that isn't muffling anything. The buzz is going to be very hard to get rid of. When is the last time you heard a non-buzzy Honda? Exactly. The only deep sounding Honda I've heard was an SOHC running a 14b and open downpipe, sounded nothing like a Honda. A small turbo will do that.

IMO, I wouldn't worry about the exhaust sound. You're obviously into the performance of the car. Why compromise that with restrictive mufflers just to take away an exhaust buzz? A straight through resonator, glasspack, muffler, or anything straight through will not take away that sound. You need a real muffler to do that.

Because you asked... I'm running exactly what you're running. A 3" exhaust with no cat and a dynomax straight through muffler. It very very deep and doesn't have a hint of buzz. But then again a small turbo, large ports, and larger cylinders with do that for you.

i thought that cause im running a smaller 1.8 than a 2.0 that could cause for more rasbyness, also im running the j-spec 1.8 dohc motor and the head is really restrictive comparard to the US spec n/a head, i will be changing that soon to my old n/a head.
thanks so far even thou im no longer a dsmer any more.
thanks again
