where can i find a true 3 inch downpipe for a 97 gsx? Punishment makes them but is sold out for 3-4 weeks. The apexi brand doesnt seem to be a full 3 inches. And ive heard mixed reviews about megan racing products. Anybody know who else may sell one?

I have the megan racing one, a pipe is a pipe, I don't know what could be "bad" about it. It has a 2.5 inlet that matches my o2. I have a megan racing o2 as well. And I finished it up with a Thermal Cat back that was chopped to make it a full 3 inch all the way through.

A pipe is a pipe but welds on ebay exhausts make the pipe not just a pipe any longer megan is just fine though, i just wouldnt buy their t3 manifold.

I just received a Strictly Import Motorsports 3" down pipe and am very impressed with the quality, full 3" mandrel bent with nice welds.

Yeah I havent had a chance to check fitment yet because I am waiting on more parts before dropping the engine back in but am very pleased with first impressions. glad this helped.

Do you have a O2 sensor housing still? Like Mitsu style? Or coming off your turbo is V-Band? Ever notice how the Honda crowd does their downpipes? As lame as it sounds the "honduh" style downpipe is the best. There is no MHI O2 sensor housing no more, just V-Band the down pipe up to the turbo, screw the oxygen sensor and pyro sensor in and call it a day. As far as I know, no-body for the DSM market sells this style, gotta build it. Not to hard, if thats entirely way to much work/fab for you, buy a E-Bay 3" turbo back exhaust (or just the down-pipe) and take the china product to a reputable exhaust shop, they'll do the magic of making flanges fit right and having hangers in the correct spot. Good luck. Keep us posted on what you choose. Oh, and a lil side note, I used to rock the Apexi N1 exhaust system (now days I have everything replaced except the actuall muffler I still use) the Apexi downpipe is VERY small coming off the turbo's O2 housing, like 2 1/4" status, after the bend to make it under the oil pan it becomes 2 1/2" then after the flex pipe section it increase's size one more time.

^^^ Im with you on that. The days of me having a full exhaust for a weekend car are over. My exhaust will be no more than 4 ft long. You ever see a vid of landspeeds car? Now THAT i like. I just couldnt bring myself to cut up the hood after the new paint job. Ill settle for a short pipe under or out the bumper

Lets start a new trend..hood exit exhaust on street dsm's .hahaha..

Maybe a flapper on top for the rain folks..ahhahah

I have a megan racing downpipe and i love it. Got it pretty cheap online. I had to replace the flex pipe on it once, but other than that it have been the best bang for the buck mod i've put on my car.
