Toronto,
just wondering for those of you without cats, what you guys do to get rid of the CEL?

I know STI's and such run 02 simulators, but just wondering what other options are out there?

I am not sure about o2 simulators or if they would work on our ECU. What I do kow is the ECU looks for a few things.

1. The ECU looks for a varying resistance on the Heater circuit.
2. The ECU looks for a cyclic rate of the o2. If it cycles to slow a code will be stored.
3. Finally the ECU looks for a leaner condition on the o2 when compared to the upstream o2.

So to meet all those conditions you would need to leave the o2 installed but make the ECU think the exhaust is leaner than the upstream 02. Hence the resistor mod; you install a resistor in series with the o2 signal wire toshow that the exhaust gas downstream from the upstream 02 is leaner after the cat.

what i did was i used either a 1 or 10 megaohm resistor from radio shack that costed only $1 for a pack of three. i spliced that onto the black wire coming from the o2...everythings good for me...no cel's

Rand, I got a CEL from my Hi-Flow Cat and did the resistor mod and it fixed it right up. You need a 1 Mega ohm 1/4 watt resistor spliced into the black wire under the driver seat. $.99 for a 5 pack from radio shack

Heh, heh. Yeah, if you really need I bet I have the other 4 resistors kickin' around somewhere :p .

heh. ive been wondering that myself, how to remove the cat without throwing a code. now i know, awesome.
