High Flow Cat with out o2 sensor

I have installed ss autocrome headers with o2 cat back with o2 and I was told that if i run a high flow cat that i will get a check engine light? can some one tell me if they have done this mod and if im going to get that stupid chek engine light all the time. BTW its going on a 97 RS 420a Its the only mod i haven't done to the exhuast. thanks guys .

Removing the 02 sensor will put the check engine light on, but it may not go on right away.

im not sure if your talking about removing the o2 sensor or not, but i bought an ERT high flow cat. you shouldnt get a CEL, but i did for some reason. i just did the resistor mod and it went away.

You do know our cars run a little rich from the factory right?

Meaning when I insall the High flow cat, I was told the car would run rich meaning air to fuel mixture with be alot and will make the chek engine stay on light not removing the o2 but there isn't plug hole for the high flow cats if theirs even an o2 sensor there i know there is one on my lower down pipe and on the first end of my headers I just want to know if adding the high flow cat will give me some stupid chek engine light after i install a high flow cat sorry guys im new to this stuff I appreciate your help and have learned a great deal from all the information on this forum...

i have a cai header high flow cat and a 2.5 cat back and other then running a lil richer then before the swap and fouling out plugs a little quicker only check engine light i have had was from a small oil burning problem. if your really worried about it do a search on here for the ressistor mod that will fool the ecu into the o2 sensors reading correctly no matter what.

I also have the ssautochrome header and a cheap high flow cat cough*resonator*cough. Anyways I have not had one problem. I had a cel light but it was a misfire cyl #2, fixed it with a new coil pack, plug wires and plugs. I am still a bit skiddish about doing the o2 mod, I'll get around to it shortly.

BTW my fuel system is in tip top shape, the fuel filter gets changed every 30,000, and it has recently had a fuel injector cleaning(professionally.)

i had the same prob. car ran fine and had no trouble. i put a 2.5 carback and a racing car on mine. got the cel on and could get rid of the dam thing buy pulling the engine fuse that solved that prob for about a day. hell with it. took out the bezel and put some black tape on it. ! what ever suits ya.

i guessss you coullld do that, but here they do emissions test by obdII scan check only. the computer says you dont pass, you dont pass. the resistor tells the computer you do. they will know if the light is covered

High Flow cat is on it's way...BTW did your ss autocrome headers change color ? Mine did Im thinking of replacing them with a ceramic style holley...BTW guys I have come across a compay that does powdercoating for valve covers, and they do great work, email me or message me and i will give you their information. Here's a picture those are not nicks they are reflections of the gloss this guy does awesome work....He will do them is diff colors and for turbo models I believe as well it costs 140 and you get 60 back when you give hime your old cover.

My autochrome header is still very silver, with a hint of gold. I polish mine every to weeks with this meatl polish I got from the flea market, shit works awesome, even cleans the clouds out of headlights
