Replaced O2 sensor CEL still on...

A couple months ago i took the car to autozone to get the check engine light check out and the only code that came up was the O2 sensor before the cat converter me and a friend replaced the O2 sencsor yesterday afternoon then i took the power off the battery hopefully to reset it or something and started up fine yesterday afternoon no CEL for the rest of the day (i drove it a couple of times) this morning i start it up and not even a minute later the CEL came back on. What could cause this???

97 GS 420a 5 speed.

Give us a current cel number. It may be a different cel than O2.

Ok took the car to autozone, this time it gives out a code about the gas cap, don't know what the exact code or whatever said he was standing next to me and told me this and said 95% of the time its the GAS cap and it might have a small leak in it. Bought a cheap replacement gas cap got home took the negative off the battery for a few mins plugged it back in. Went to the store the CEL never came back on. a couple days ago when i did the battery thing the next morning the CEL came back on i hope it was the gas cap. we shall see thanks guys

about 24 hrs ago i went to autozone guy told me to get a gas cap and see if that wrorks put the new one on got home reset the ecu(took off negative on battery) and it didn't come on all day so it was the gas cap. easy fix , thanks!!!! peace...
