Last spring my son and I replaced his transmission with one from a junkyard ('93 non-turbo 5-speed). The original had blown holes into the bell housing and out onto the road from the transaxle. The new tranny worked great, shifted better than the original ever did.
A couple of weeks ago it basically did the same thing although the hole is only into the bell housing. Once again it is from the transaxle. Is this where these transmissions usually fail? Is there a better transmission to put in there? I know he drove the original tranny pretty hard and I believe he was at least a little more careful with this one. You shouldn't have to baby one of these. Or should you?

This a stock N/T and its the second time that he's grenaded the tranny?
It just sounds odd to me, I am no trans expert but what kind of extreme load could be put on it to fail ?, what kind of tranny fluid did you use? it just seems odd to me, maybe he's slaming gears without disengaging the clutch, alot of young kids watch the fast and the furious and get crazy ideas. but it sounds like the driver may be the culprit.
