I'm thinking about buying a new throttle body for my car. I've seen a 55mm and a 60mm throttle body for my car. I'm curious, if i get a 60mm throttle body do i HAVE to bore out the intake manifold, or buy a new intake manifold? OR will it fit perfectly without changing anything else? I'm wondering because my dad was looking to get a bigger throttle body for his firebird, but someone told him that he had to bore out the intake manifold to make it fit properly. I'm curious if i have to do the same thing, or not. I plan to get a new intake manifold later, when i get more money, but i found a 60mm throttle body for $200 and thought it would be best to buy that first. But if the 60mm throttle body doesn't fit i guess i will have to buy a new intake manifold first. If someone can answer my question, it will really help me out alot. Will i have to buy a new/ bore out the intake manifold to make a 60mm throttle body fit properly?
THANKS

You don't have to bore it out, but it would seriously interupt air flow if you didn't. As long as it bolts up, do this;

Yes but that's a 4g63 mod, he has a non turbo.I am wondering if he is looking at the same parts though. that's why I asked for more info. I don't think either of those throttle bodys will fit a 420 motor but I don't know for sure.

sorry about not answering quickly...i found the answer to my question about a minute after i posted. I bought a throttle body off of maximumperformance.com. I got a 60 mm tb, i was told that it would bolt up and fit properly so i installed it. The 60mm throttle body really helps, i like it alot...it seems like the gas pedal is so easy to press now. And when i barely push the gas pedal, i get a really good throttle response, now i have to change my driving habits so i don't screech my tires when coming out of a stop, LOL. Here's a pick. And actually the butterfly looks different than that....the black part covers the whole side of it, not metal. Thanks tho.
