I'm looking at installing the Powerstop K683 brake kit on my Eclipse. It comes with front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this kit?

Streetside auto has the kit for $214.00 shipped.
 
I haven't used their performance line, but I went with their blank rotor set on Rockauto prior to swapping to larger calipers. I was very pleased with the overall quality. Pads definitely have a decent bite to them over OE replacement, but they're certainly no Hawk or EBC pad.

Thanks for the reply. I figured for a little over $200.00 for all four wheels including pads, I couldn't go wrong.

Did you install the rotors yourself? I was wondering if you did a rotor runout check? Do you need to do that with new rotors or with resurfaced rotors? Also, is the install pretty straight forward?

I've used them before, think they came with evolution pads? It's as straight forward as any rotor/pad installation can be. Just make sure to clean to glaze off the rotors before you put them on with brake parts cleaner and to follow correct brake rotor/pad break-in procedure. Most of the time they tell you the procedure, but you can just google it. It's basically just a set of instructions on how fast/hard to brake right after you put them on.

OH, and don't forget to pump your brake pedal up before you take off. Otherwise the pads won't even be in contact with the rotors yet and you aren't gonna stop. LOL

No problem. Sorry to be so vague with my answer but run-out will basically check the rotor for warping by measuring it's high spots vs low spots. The difference between the two is the run-out. So unless those rotors are very shitty there will be no run-out. I actually have this kit and it's a great upgrade from the OE parts but it's nothing track worthy.

Answer wasn't vague at all, just what I was looking for :thumb: My car won't be seeing any track days, just couldn't see resurfacing the stock rotors when I could get such a good price on the Powerstops.

Yes, I did install myself. I do everything possible within my own means. Too bad I don't have an alignment setup. Then I'd be entirely self-sufficient...well apart from inspections of course. To be honest, I'm paranoid when using a brand of rotor I've never used before. I always check run out on no name brands. Happy to say they checked out true. I ran them for 20k with no warping. Again, to be fair, I used blanks. With drilled & slotted, YMMV. Pads held up great as well and bedding them in was smooth and straightforward.

I wish I had the space to be able to do my own work, small things are okay, major work goes to the shop. I will be doing the brakes though, pretty straight forward. I might go ahead and throw my dial indicator on and check run out, only takes a few minutes.

I haven't, but I've seen it happen... Oddly enough, at a Honda dealership. Ran straight into a tool cart and wall, after hitting another car. Needless to say, the tech was let go. ROFL
 
Got my rotors and pads installed today. Pretty simple and straight forward. Painted my calipers while I had everything apart. Got them bedded in and everything works great.

Next on the list is the installation on the Megan Racing short shifter and bushings that got delivered today. Hopefully that goes as easy as the brakes.

Thanks to everyone for their input on the brake installation.

PS- Kazoo, I remembered to pump up the brakes before I went for a test drive. :thumb:
