Ok so I recently rebuilt the engine and in the process installed an aftermarket modular clutch setup. I started it today everything went great, drove it around a parking lot for a little while just breaking it, i took it out of gear and put it nuetral, but when i went to put it back in gear nothing happens. None of the gears will engage now, if you turn the car off and roll it back and forth in gear you hear nothing but when you put it into gear your can hear the gears almost grabbing each other and also a small grinding noise. Ive checked the slave cylinder and it works fine, has fluid, tried adjust the clutch pedal, what am i missing?

Yes I checked that

So I'm doing some more checking and one of my transmission bolt on the lower side of the trans near the firewall had come really loose... still doesn't engage though since I tightened it back down

I just disconnected the cable pushed it into gear manually, it seems to go all the way but nothing happens when i let out on the clutch...Thanks that was a good idea though!!

Don't bump your thread.

So you are saying that when you installed it, everything was fine, but now nothing happens when you let off the clutch? At a stop, in gear, you let off the clutch without opening the throttle, and it does not stall or anything, right?

Do you have proper freeplay in the pedal?

Are there any odd sounds coming from the transmission? With that loose transmission bolt, you could have destroyed your clutch or input shaft bearings. Pull the transmission and check the condition of the clutch, and make sure you cannot wobble the input shaft.

Thats correct when the car is running and put into gear i let off of the clutch and nothing happens the car doesn't move or stall. The transmission has been removed again the clutch appears to be ok but what should i be looking for? How do I tell if the imput shaft is worn? I can't hear any odd sounds when the engine is running but if the car is off and in gear it sounds like the gears are kinda touching and there is a small scraping, grinding sound

The small scraping sounds could be the clutch slipping and not engaging probably due to failure. Did you take off the pressure plate? What did the clutch surface look like?

To check the input shaft, grab ahold of it and wiggle it back and forth. If it wiggles a bunch then it is toast.

Let us know about that pressure plate.

Well I figured out what the sound was...the center of the clutch has broken and turns freely from the disc, its messed up... Its a modular clutch so I can't take it apart to look at it. I do have another question though, the small washer spacer goes in between the crank and the ring gear correct? Thats how I remembered it coming apart but now I'm having second thought.
