2GA: 95,96 (Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, Fog Lights, Reverse Lights, Side Skirts *95 Turbo Came With EProm ECU*)

2GB: 97-99 (Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, Fog Lights, Reverse Lights, Side Skirts *Spoiler Depending On Model*)

regular thrust bearing vs split thrust bearing.

CAS location (inverted signal)

trans/x-fer case ratio

Chance of getting an EPROM ECU

Here's one, nice vs not looking nice. I'm a 2gb guy, then second by the 2ga. Their both winners in my book.

Well i like to mixed and match my 2gx... 2gb front bumer, 2ga talon twisties, 2ga eclipse rear, 2ga spoiler, 2gb black interior....

wow, thanks for the respones guys. I have heard a lot about eprom ecu's what is so great about them?

thats tight, can you just swap out for an eprom ecu? Or what do i need to install one?

Or, you could just use EcuFlash and an Openport 2.0 cable and program the one that's already installed in your car. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of DSMLink (yet) but will keep you happy for quite some time. If you out grow the flashing of the stock ECU, you'd be wanting to run a standalone.

Oh, and it's cheaper. ~$250 for the cable +software

thats not too bad...im guessing thats what you did?

The 97 ecu isn't flashable. I'm actually running one out of an Evo 8, but it's the same principal. I did my swap right around the time 98/99 flashing first became possible.

i guess it depends on what 97 ecu your using... the late 97 ecu's are flashable (more specifically ecu's from july of 97 on) from what i hear a way of telling is if the case of the ecu is plastic or metal.

Late 97 build dates are usually 98 model year cars.
I have an April 97.

ahh i see, well then i guess its still a 98 then. So when i hear people say what "ROM" are you using? Is that referring to Read Only Memory? or is that something else? I see it all over the OP 2.0 cable threads.

It's the hexadecimal image that is flashed onto the ecu, onto the rom, but people just call that image the rom.
