to the guys running the xs power fmic kit that got shafted (like me) and didn't recieve that one 2.25 coupler and the two t bolt clamps.. well instead of having to spend $20 on another silicon coupler that won't pop off, i have found that if you modify (cut) the existing rubber intercooler pipe, it fits on nice and snug over both the intercooler outlet and the pipe that connects to the t body elbow. i would still recommend going to napa and spending the $7 on two t bolt clamps though..

I havent used mine yet, A friend of mine orders them from xspower/ssautochrome and out of say, 10 units, they all miss the coupler and clamps, Odd?

all things aside, its really a decent fmic kit.
compare it to the 2g fmic on AGPTURBO.com for 800$ compare the pictures and everything, seems to be the exact same kit, just the pipes arent powerder coated.

mine is sitting at his house right now, havent picked it up yet.

has anyone ordered the fmic for a 1G from xspower/ssautochrome, they have one for 350$ on ebay all the time..

Do these ebay intercoolers work at all or are they just crap. Because they look pretty nice but now and days that doesn't mean jack.

kinda off subject, but has anybody on here used the XS tubular maniifolds? There just so damn cheap, plus the lifetime warrenty against cracks....Seems like a good deal even if they are pieces of ish.

im sure they work fine, but its the scary thing of buying a fmic kit for like 3-400$ and gettin it and there isnt the right piping and no couplers or clamps or anything else, and you cant do anything about it, so you spent 400$ on a front mount intercooler with piping that doesnt fit at all, i mean you can still use the fmic but youll have to spend some cash on having piping made up for you., i was thinking about just ordering one and see what happens, my friend orders alot of stuff from ssautochrome, he just ordered his fmic kit for his 240sx and at first he got the wrong piping, so he sent it all back and they resent him the correct stuff.,

Thats cool, yeah before my car started making noises I was thinking of getting one of those kits at least the fmic. You can get really large cores for pretty cheap. I was concerned with it leaking boost than anyting else. I have had their t04e t3/t4 hybrids and they seem to respond pretty well without collapsing.

There is a 30 page thread on this fmic kit.I bought it and it seems to be of nice quality. It wasnt the easiest install but it was well worth it.

there is a big thread about this kit that answers every question or thought that is mentioned in this thread. Probably answers questions your thinking of or havnt thought of but will when you get your kit or become more interested in it.

This fmic kit is great, probably the best right now, for the price. Even so if someone compared it to the the kits that cost more than twice the price. Yes everybody gets "gipped" on a coupler and clamps, but arent those who charge over $800 for a similar kit the ones gipping us? It's uncalled for still yes, but for less than $300 shipped for what this kit is, I couldnt complain. If that still bothers people, they should get the AGP Kit which is identical but won't be missing a coupler and probably have faster customer service through email. What a way to spend an extra $500, missing clamps and coupler and fast customer service. One or the other. I'll go for the cheaper one thanks.

As for XS/SS headers and other ebay products. The reason why the fmic kits are so popular because there really isnt much of a risk with these. They are air to air radiators basically. It's not a new patented technology. These are cheap to make in the first place. Add some pipes which are also cheap. It has just been overlooked all this time because of the brand names and everybody afraid of ebay and ss/xs goods. When it comes to a turbo or a manifold, that are more CRUCIAL components for the car, that is a much bigger risk and something you know (at least as a dsm owner hope you know) has to be a quality product. They still might be good, but testing and being the guinea pig for it is a big risk. It can make or break your car, as far as this IC kit, what can go wrong with a big core and pipes?

yeah i know.. i have the kit installed. got a grand total of two pulls with it.. uipc just REFUSES to stay on. my friend suggested a hump silicone coupler to help with flex, but i haven't heard of anyone else having the same problem with this kit. of and i know there is a 30 page thread but i still don't have the rep needed.. thats the only thing i don't like about this site..

you cant reply i that thread because of your post count? weird, anyways we'll try to help you out here then if thats the case.

which is refusing to stay on? the hose coming off? the one that connects the tb elbow and the upper pipe w/bov flange? are you using one of their supplied couplers or are you using the stock thing you mentioned?

not because of my post count, but because i am not yet a proven member. the pipe that connects the tb elbow to the uicp keeps blowing off because there is about an inch and a half in between the two.

good news guys! i am just going to get a 2.5" by 5" coupler because the clamps are nearly hanging off right now. should work like a charm. i guess i will update you guys in about a week or so.

Hmm, it might be the way you mounted the core, making the uicp too far from the inlet of the core where it has to be lower thus the big gap inbetween the pipes. Because mine barely has a gap and the coupler hugs both pipes a good amount. Try adjusting how the pipe/coupler is mounting from where the uip connects to the core. If not how is your core mounted? It should line up perfectly.

If thats too much work and trouble, ?I guess the easier way would be to do what your going to do and buy that longer coupler.

^^^ yeah on that thread there was no mention of a 'hump' connector but people have had to get longer couplers.. the ones that came with the kit are the standard 3" long. i went ahead and bought a 5 incher. $20 bucks is more than worth it to me.

XS POWER FMIC:
Kit: $295
TB elbow flange machine cost: $20
new 5" coupler- $20
new razor to cut front bumper cover: $5
bolts and nuts: $5
two t bolt clamps: $7
total so far: $352..

how big is this intercooler we are talking about, maybe thats the one i want to if its the bang for a buck deal.. I am in the market for an intercooler, i can never find a used one to work with, why is that?

The core is 28x10x3.5 but total length with the endtanks is 32x10x3.5 so its a fairly big mofo man. It seems as if its a great deal if you don't mind using your imagination for soem fabrication.

yes sir. EXACTLY like the agp fmic but cost me $500 less. i actually like the fabrication part. it makes me feel like i know something about cars when i fab something up!! like when i was short one coupler i cut a piece of the uipc to make it fight and it worked like a charm. and then when we couldn't get the licp to fit unto my t25 we cut some more uipc. now i need a slim fan:( oh well i have a 50 trim waiting for install thats why i didn't want to pull the turbo and cut the exhaust housing.. the only part i don't like is that i live in a pretty rural area and so i have to wait for every part i need.. no one around me even has couplers! its ridicoulos..

just picked mine up, cant wait to install. you CANNOT beat this price for the quality of the unit.

So the base price for a decent intercooler is around 2-500 big ones.. I got some pennies to save then.. I was lookin for a used one, and when i finally find the money, the parts are not there, but when i got the parts to buy, oposite..arggggggggggg.
