Hey guys, i have a 2g awd turbo, its a 1995 talon and my wipers do not work.

new part list: new wiper motor and new switches .

When I put the fuse in and turn the key on it pops right away when I disconnect everything and put a new fuse in it still pops I took my car to firestone and they couldn't work on it but they said I had a short. I found the power wire it is blue with a orange stripe on it but I cant find it leading to the fuse box. I am trying to put a whole new power line in the car going from the switch to the fuse box to the motor but can't find it under the dash. Can some one help me out with a wire diagram that has color in it or something ? I really need help !!

ps. I can get the wipers to work on say a toggle switch but not the wiper switch and it will only be one speed on or off :nono: i want this thing to be as stock as I can get it please give me good info not just a fast reply thanks.

Well as you can see from the diagram (color key is at bottom of 2nd pic), the blue-orange (as well as the blue-black) go from the motor to the wiper switch, and from there to the windshield intermittent wiper relay (which looks as if it's in the same container), and from there as a blue wire to the 20A "wiper" fuse, and from there as a blue to the ignition switch, and from there as a white to the 30A "ign sw" fuse, and from there to battery positive.

I know that the power wire for the wiper motor is the blue wire with a orange stripe in it i can't seem to find it in the fuse box what i am attempting is running a new power wire to the wiper motor to the fuse box and then a new power wire to the switch .

if i put a new switch in does that replace the wiper relay ? because i can't really find the relay and don't know why my car is doing this just trying to fix my wipers :banghead: and when i go under my dash it just is a big mess that i can't find the power wire .

It's more complicated than you propose. You said " i want this thing to be as stock as I can" so that means 2 speeds plus intermittent so you must go through the intermittent wiper relay. It is under the top cowling around the steering wheel but be warned it looks messy and tiny and all integral to each other as shown in the diagram.

could the rear wiper be blowing the fuse ? or no .

Ok is there any way i can get my wipers to work with my switch on my steering colLOLm like the sprayers and everything the wire diagram does not help i have the book and everything i just need it fixed and i don't want to run it on a toggle . please i am desperate i have been going 2 years with no wipers and the shop said they can't fix it (firestone)

Both the front and rear wipers, both washers, and stock theft alarm are all on that "wiper" 20A fuse. Try disconnecting them to see which has the short.

If not working after finding the short you may have to replace the entire column switch (which includes the intermittent wiper relay, wiper switch, washer switch, variable wiper control switch - but I'd start with replacing the intermittent wiper relay which is the usual culpret). But check wire continuity first.

The other thing is use a spdt (or dpdt) center off toggle switch but w/o the intermittent wiper relay, the wipers won't return to rest position on their own as well as no intermittent.

well i replaced the hole switch Assembly and that did nothing i think its the power wire or the rear wiper because when i put a new fuse in and turn the key it pops asap ! i can run a new power to the front wiper and use no fuse and it works so i don't know what it is i will go out side and disconnect the rear wiper to see if that is the problem.

I have found the short it was the rear wiper motor i just disconnected it looks like i can't have a rear wiper oh well i would rather have the fronts work ! thanks man for all your help !:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
