I have been looking around the forums and vfaq for any help but can't seem to find anything. Since I bought my gst, the shifter felt out of place compared to my old RS. By "out of place" i mean that even when it's in gear, i can still move it side to side, not as much as in neutral but it's got quite a bit of play. Also when it's in neutral and i want to shift to a certain gear, let's say 3rd, it's hard to find it. Any way it can be adjusted or is it just from over stretched shifter cable?

thanks, Abe

im having problems shifting as well. from what ive asked of people that i know know a little bit about cars( basically have more knowledge than me) i would go to say that it is probably ## shifter cables. i went to check out my shifter cables the other day and noticed that one of the linkages is pretty loose. Pop ## center console off and take a look. you might have a bolt or something thats coming off.

That's what im going to do this weekend, check it out. But I just wanted to ask if there is something common that goes out in our shifters that may cause this so i can go ahead and buy some parts before i take it apart

My stock shifter wasn't too sloppy, but I went ahead and put in stiffer bushings and the symborski shifter kit. Holy cow did that make a difference. No slop at all.

My brother's GS-T, on the other hand...he put in an eBay short throw and I swear you can't even tell it's in gear by the way the level flops around.

Where can i get the bushings and that shifter kit? i mean i can live with it like this, its just not as pleasant to drive as it could be with a smooth shifter...LOL mines is similar to his, but not that badROFL

Do you know if the 2g NT dsm's have the same shifter as the turbo?

Shifter kit - Symborski Shifter Kit
Replaces rubber with aluminum.

Cable bushings - Mach V Shifter Cable Stiffeners
Replaces rubber with aluminum, and makes them wider.

any link you know of that can help me install the Symborski Shifter Kit?

did your brother do anything to fix his shifter?

Yes the select lever shoe wears out: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/mai...t-fifth-gear-grinding-help.html#post152266167.

Also instead of buying the shifter cable stiffeners just make your own from skateboard bearings: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...wheel-bearings-merged-12-6-a.html#post1822461

There is a tech article here that details the symborski install, and I believe it comes with instructions as well. Failing all that, shoot me a PM and I'd be glad to explain it. It's rather simple.

As for my brother, well, no. No he hasn't. His motor mounts are shot too. But he cares more about bigger wheels/tires, lowering, and a loud sound system.
