2g rear vented caliper help!

I got lucky and picked up a subframe with rear vented disc brake setup. Only thing is one of the bolts was frozen into the caliper mounting bracket, deeming it unusable.

These are a pretty rare setup and no parts store can get them around here for me. From what I understand 3000gt sl rear rotors are vented and the same diameter. Question is can I get a caliper from a 3000gt to work on my gsx rear vented setup?

Just to clarify, is it the mounting bolt or is it one of the guide pins that are
frozen?

Guide pin is frozen in. Tried drilling it out with no luck, and now its shot

Do you have an air hammer and a table vise? If you have access to those, you should be golden; it's going to be stubborn but it should come out after a minute or so of repetitive blasts. Hope this helps.

I already tried that. The pin acctually broke off in the guide hole. I tried drilling it out and using a ez out with a torch. And still no go.

I just checked and from the factory their existing part #'s are different. Both vehicle's use the same type of floating caliper design but as far as dimensions and size goes, I don't know what to tell you. I'd say go to a junkyard and do some measurements, and if you can, match them together and see if there are any visible differences.

I battled this a few years back. I even went so far as to try and get them made by Power Slot and Brembo. Actually made decent progress, but they never released the part.

Bottom line, stop now. Pick up the phone, call RRE. Ask them to send you a set. You'll be much happier than trying to find replacements.

I had a guide pin in a front caliper do that once. I had to drill a hole through the caliper opposite the frozen pin and use a punch and press to press it out the front. After that was done, I welded a plug in where I drilled the hole. Sanded it, painted it, good as new.

If you want a working caliper along with spare rotors and a spare for the other side I have the rear 95 vented set from my old talon for sale. PM me if you're interested. It's an alternative to trying to get the guide pin out.
