2g pistons in a 6 bolt

If your cylinders don't need to be rebored and your 2g pistons are still in spec, yes you can reuse them. Mitsubishi does have oversized pistons available, but for the cost of machining a new 2g piston and the pistons themselves you can get forged for a little more.

It's all up to how good what you have is that determines what you have to buy.

What i've got right now is an old 6-bolt shortblock that needs to be rebuilt, it was completely stock so it still has 1g pistons in it. I was thinking about taking everything apart and taking the block to the machine shop, but I guess I should put my question like this...

Are 2g pistons the same dimension as 1g pistons?

Thanks

while were on this, will switiching to 2g pistons make the engine more prone to failure? for some damned reason?
