2g pistons in a 1g motor

are the pistons of a 2g the same as a 1g other than compression ratio, what I mean is can u use 2g pistons in a 1g motor with stock 1g rods and crank.
this would boost the compression to 8.5, more hp faster spool up.

Yes you can, but you have to have the rods machined to accept the larger wrist pin of the 2g pistons. This is a common cheap upgrade.

yes I know that results may vary based on set up.
what I am asking is what is the average increase of hp by raising the copression, there must be some formula to ball park it.

Depends on a lot of factors. Running stock everything your should see around 20hp - 30hp. 2g dsms run at 215 crank. 1gs run at 195 crank. The joke of a turbo on a 2g really holds it back. With the 14b and stock everything else I would predict at least 220 crank.

Most will agree a full point of compression is about 4% power increase. That isnt a full point so maybe 2.8%. Still that is a very general guess.

Yeah... After looking at the numbers again the 2g is just 205. Not 215. 2.8% Equaled about 5-6 horsepower. Then you take into acount that the 2g has a slightly better intake path for another 3-4 horses. Now if all was said and done, and the 2g turbo was flowing the same CFM (iirc it runs at higher boost stock 11 or so vs 8) as the 1g this would be about right.

I'm doing this exact swap on my 1g right now just pulled the motor the other day but ive herd its a very good swap and a good upgrade for 1gs.

Ya I was looking into this before I went with the eagle/weisco setup. Good budget upgrade. I have a set a 2g pistons in good shape if anyone is interested
