Hi

I have a 1990 eagle talon TSi. Last week my timing belt ripped off and now it has 16 bent valves. My block is hurt and it has to be bored. Im going to rebuild my engine. What pistons will be better for my setup, 2g or .40 Wiseco(9:0:1)??? I've found these Wiseco pistons for $175. What will be the best option??

Thanks,
Kelvin

.40 over with a turbo motor sounds a little much. i went .30 with wiseco 9.5:1 pistons and I would have so much power off the line and only 10lbs it felt uber fast. For the price I would go with wiseco. More power for your motor with the less work it has to do by pushing heavier pistons around.

i would have to say wiseco's to but they have to used one's for only 175. the 2g pistons will probly hold but if you just dont wont to push it go with the wiseco's

Thanks,

Yes, the Wiseco's are used.

My goal is like 350hp aprox. My mods right now are Evo3 16g, tubular manifold and o2 housing, 3" full exhaut, 3" Magnaflow cat, Walbro 255 fp, Denso 550 injectors, Mallory fpr, FMIC, 2.5 ic piping, and 3" GM Maf-t. I just buyed 680cc injectors and a Turbonetics 60./ .48...

The 2g pistons were in my car before the incident. Now i have the option to bore my current block and buy the wiseco's or stay with the 2g and buy a standard block. I want to stay with 15psi of boost(for now).

If your looking for 350 whp then I would say you don't necessarily have to go with the Wiseco's (yes they will be better but if your on a tight budget 2g pistons can hold up to 350 without a problem) Instead, just take your head to a good machine shop and have them do some work on it and get some things ported and a GOOD tune and you should be at 350 without a problem. I was around 350 on stock internals, a small 16g, small front mount, 680's,and some minimal head work. Oh don't forget I had dsmlink too so that is why I said get a good tune from someone who knows what they are doing.

Id say .40 over is pretty extreme too. But .040 would be fine. :p

Yes i can stay with the 2g's but the problem is that the cylinders in my block are scratched and it has to be bored to fix them. And i have looked for STD blocks but i can't find any with papers(vin number, Title, etc) . The problem is that here on Puerto Rico the Police check for VIn Numbers, they're constantly checking and I don't want to have my car confiscated.

Thanks :thumb:

Is this a serious question?

Go with the wiseco's dude, but get a new set. I wouldn't trust getting a "used" set of wiseco pistons. Do you HAVE to bore it that much because of the damage done to your block. I wouldn't go more than .30 over. I'm personally going .20 ross pistons with my fully built motor.

You're kidding right? 2618 forged, full floating piston vs a Stock piston piston fit cast pos.

Used can be A okay as well , but seriously I don't think this question should be asked.

Check over the wiesco by measuring them with a micrometer and you'll be a okay with some new spiro locks.
