what's guys. I have a simple question for you. I have had these parts for while now. I'm trying to save up money for a fmic and plan to have all these parts install and tune by Turbotrix in NJ on a dyno. Can I install the 2g mass and rc500's myself first without safc installed? I don't want to pay twice for the tunning whn I get the fmic. Will my car run ok? I remember reading somewhere that it would be ok, what do you guys think? Thanks :talon:

I had this setup for a couple of months while I was saving for my s-afc2 it will run but, I would wait until you have the safc my car ran SO much better when I got it installed

Agree fuel managment is very important (dont cut corners) Id wait untill u have the s-afc befor you install the rc's.

(what fuel pump do you have and are you running this set up with a fuel reg.?)

Good Luck:)

Thanks for the replies guys. I do have the safc already but not the fmic. Turbotrix charges $75 for install of safc and $150/hr for tunning on the dyno, and they said it would have to be retune when i get the fmic. blu_gxl, were you having idle problems without safc? It's so hard staring at the 2g mass and rc550's for 4 months and do nothing with it. I might install them and see what happens and go back to stock if problems show up. As long as it doesn't hurt other parts. My fuel pump was upgraded back in 1997, I don't know the brand and the size but I know it's not stock. I'm currently running 17psi with small 16g without feul regulator, I have ran 19psi sometimes withou any problems. Devon, do you think I need fuel reg. with these 550's? Thanks. :talon:

technically, you should be fine

the 2g MAS flows 20% more air. The 550's flow 20% more fuel. Should be a wash.

If you have a 255lph fuel pump, like me...you'll need a regulator. If you have a 190, no.

Ive got RC injectors too :thumb:

But yeah, when you start messing with fuel upgrades, you'll want an AFC to be in first.

Wrong.

550's flow about 18% more fuel.

The 2g MAF can be off by as much as almost 30% at lower airflow levels, and the curve is not the same as the 1g MAF.

They don't just cancel out.

Interesting. I was always told that they are a complete wash. Thanks for helping me understand otherwise.

Well, like I said before I ran just the 550's and the 2g mas for a while with out any problems. The only thing that sucked was I was getting horrible gas mileage.

You should install the S-AFC yourself. It's not that hard and all you have to do is follow the instructions in the Apex-i booklet. Of course I used a Y-type (can be found at radio shack) tap and did not solder the connections mine works perfectly fine for now until I can get the connections soldered. I do not recomend doing it this way the best way is to solder the connections, but it works for me.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to be patient and wait for the FMIC so I can do all of them at once.:thumb:
