This started when I kept on getting this weird CEL which comes and goes within a few minutes of driving so logging it was kind of hard since I didn't have a logger yet (my fault :p) Anyway, using a tester on Pin 1, I found out that it was the IAT sensor at fault, so today I removed the MAF only to find the IAT sensor's "feet" rusted and literally hanging by a thread. I tugged at it and it just fell off... WTF?!? good thing I found it after a few minutes of combing the grass :D LOLz

Here are a few pics to document how we took apart the MAF sensor and resoldered the IAT sensor.

Many thanks goes out to my buddy Sammy for doing the soldering work. (I suck at soldering)

This is the tiny IAT sensor / resistor... see how rusted the ends are.

Prying the MAF open (brute force needed here since the top lid is GLUED to the MAF)

Now the hard part... you have to remove all 17 soldered connections. 7 from the connector and 10 on the board. (patience is a must)

Finally!!!

Now proceed to take off everything... everything should come off nicely once you get the screws out.

Now we soldered some new "feet" to the temp resistor and soldered it in there. Also covered it with silicon so that there will be lesser chance of it rusting again and falling off.

Now put everything back together and resolder all 17 connections.

And we're done. Remember to use silicon sealant also on the MAF lid to prevent moisture from entering.

Just tested it and the CEL went away! :D Yahoo!

Now I owe sammy dinner for the great soldering job :D hehehehe ;D

Thanks, I also made some WOT pulls today and the MAF is holding up pretty well. No CEL codes flashing up.
