I just bought another GST to add to my collection (these are addicting cars.....LOL :dsm: ) and I have been working on getting all the bugs out of it from other owners not knowing what they were doing and I noticed my 2g maf has had every bit of the honeycomb removed.......... I'm getting ready to buy DSMLink for this car but I'm trying to understand for sure on my route I want to take for my maf situation. I have read you can compensate for the hacked maf through link but I have also read that a hacked 2g maf just will not read right after you remove any of the honeycomb. which is it? I'm also working on a setup to make 500+whp out of the car and I'm unclear if a 2g maf will handle that so I'm really thinkin about a gm-maf if I have to buy a new maf. Any feedback please.

I'd recommend against gm maf, if you want that kind of power you'll need more than a piggyback tuner. Go with MS, or dsmap and run speed density.

And if you want to run the 2g maf still, get some aircraft grade alum. honeycomb and cut it to fit back in where the 2g maf has been hacked.

A Hacked 2G MAS or a GM-MAF are both going to have to be played with in DSMLink to get to calibrated correctly, so therefore I would go with the GM MAF setup for 500+WHP.

Why do you recommend against it? Tuning? What? Why do you say that DSMLink isn't good enough for 500+? You're the first person I've ever heard of to say DSMLink was not good enough for just 500whp. How can you honeycomb the alum to be like what stock was? That seems way more trouble than it's worth. Sorry....I guess I should just say the maf had the honeycomb removed and not hacked up but still???????? I'm really curious why you are against this whole setup?

I never said dsmlink wasn't good enough, wow, I'd love to run it. But you'd be better off keeping the 2gmaf or running speed density over maft. Thats all i was saying. I think you can run speed density on dsmlink too.

I just don't like the inconsistency of tuning with maft. Some people don't have a problem, some do. I'd just rather run something i know will be solid, like seed density or some form of stockish maf.

Ok.... I get what you are saying now. The way ypou were talkin about a piggy back system not being good enough I thought you were talkin about DSMLink(wondering why you were calling link a piggy back) because I had said I was goning to use it with the maf-t. I really haven't looked into speed density but I will now as well as other options. I know I need to do something about my situation soon. All I know right now is I am goning with DSMLink for sure and this car is pretty much used as a daily driver, at least right now, so I want something solid that I only need to mess with every so offten.
